Publisher's summary

It’s the hottest part of the summer in Wrangler’s Hill, and Geneva Pomolo has been hired as a consultant on a major film. A new adaptation of Oliver Twist is shooting in town, and Geneva is personally assisting the director, the legendary Tom Jolly, in writing the script. Tom, a director of over 40 films who has been likened to a modern-day Dickens or Disney, spends much of his time alone in his office chain-smoking and brooding over past wrongs. It seems he has something he wants to confess....

Tragedy erupts when Teo Jagdish, a local hairstylist hired by the studio, is founded murdered in his own barbershop, apparently bludgeoned to death with a hair dryer. Teo had been having one of the busiest weeks of his life, presiding over 15 weddings in addition to his work on the film, and his death leaves no shortage of suspects. The vindictive groom still nursing an old grudge, the fishing buddy who gambles with women’s hearts, the wedding planner girlfriend he refuses to marry, and the lovably forgetful columnist whose absent-mindedness conceals a murderous streak.

Together with her investigating partner, Geneva must sift the evidence and catch the culprit before Tom Jolly’s would-be masterpiece becomes a disaster-piece.
