Publisher's summary

Celebrate life's journeys with the beloved author whose stories of life and love touched the world. Together for the first time in one collection, 15 short stories by best-selling author Rosamunde Pilcher.

A Place Like Home is a collection of Rosamunde Pilcher’s most enduring short stories, never before published in audiobook form. The collection contains 15 stories, which range from "The Holiday", in which a wife surprises her husband of 25 years with a holiday full of Mediterranean sunshine, red rocks, and blue seas in an effort to rekindle the romance they had before children; "The Eye of Love", which takes the listener to the bright spring sunshine and sparkling waves of a Northumbrian village where old flames meet again; and "A Place Like Home", where a lonely young woman goes to recuperate in a Scottish countryside after a brief illness. Each is the perfect slice of romance written with warmth and passion featuring wonderfully memorable, smart, and feisty female characters that will transport the listener to another time and place....

I love All of Pilcher’s books…except this one.

I read Flowers in the rain when I was 35, (I’m 58 now), and fell in love. Since that wonderful introduction , I have considered Rosamund Pilcher’s books some of my absolute favorites, over the years. I have them all….
So, when my husband pointed out that Audible had another Pilcher’s book, in their lineup, I was pretty amazed, seeing that she had passed away. But, obviously, some authors works are presented posthumously.
I have now listened to each of these short stories. They simply aren’t as good as Pilcher’s other books. It’s like they are outlines with good ideas, but there is little character development, frequent unexplained changes in course, and the endings are often abrupt.
Maybe it’s just me. It’s like these stories weren’t completed enough prior to the authors death, but afterwards they were put out there. I will never think Rosamund Pilcher’s would have wanted these stories publish. She was an incredible author. This collection isn’t her best work.

Listening to Rosamunde Pilcher is like going home

This is not her best story collection, but knowing a new story will never come again, I’ll take it!

Rosamunde Pilcher is the Queen of short stories

Wonderful to hear Rosamunde Pilcher's written word again. Rosamunde Pilcher is my favorite favorite fiction writer. She helped me fall in love with the English countryside. As far as the Audible version, it was mostly wonderful. The exceptions were the two, I guess, were supposed to be American voices. As an American, I think I can critique, I think they did a very poor job. Unfortunately, the last one was the final story. I was so disappointed that was the end to an enjoyable book. To me, the Christmas story was quintessentially Rosamunde. It should have been the final story in the book and it would have been a perfect ending which would have probably made me forget the less favorable portions. All in all, I would still purchase again. If your a Rosamunde lover as I am, I bought the book and Audible of all her books I can find.

Love RP but not my favorite

Maybe because they were short stories, and characters were not very well developed because of that, I didn’t enjoy as much as I usually do. I missed my favorite narrators, Helen Johns and others.
