Resumen del Editor

For the millions of adults diagnosed with ADHD, The Disorganized Mind will provide expert guidance on what they can do to make the most of their lives. The inattention, time mismanagement, procrastination, impulsivity, distractibility, and difficulty with transitions that often go hand-in-hand with ADHD can be overcome with the unique approach that Nancy Ratey brings to turning these behaviors around. The Disorganized Mind addresses the common issues confronted by the ADHD adult:

  • "Where did the time go?"
  • "I'll do it later, I always work better under pressure anyway."
  • "I'll just check my email one more time before the meeting...."
  • "I'll pay the bills tomorrow - that will give me time to find them."

Professional ADHD coach and expert Nancy Ratey helps listeners better understand why their ADHD is getting in their way and what they can do about it.

Necessary

I love the examples and suggestions. Powerful and relatable when the examples follow a real life story describing the “why”.

Helpful tips

This has been one of the most helpful books I’ve listened to (and I’ve listened to a lot of adhd books since getting diagnosed a few months ago) Practical tips that I can implement now to help me in my life.

Great resource for getting in front of your ADHD

Almost everything in the book has been helpful and very true of me and my situation. I am working back through applying its first principles to my life, but it's already been helpful just gaining consciousness of my problem, seeing that there are strategies to combat it, and applying just a small number of them (a bit at random) to my life.

Adult adhd book actually for adults

Been reading a lot about adult adhd and this by far is the best info i have gotten. All the other adult adhd books were almost all written like we with adhd are children and i felt like this book gave the info in a way were its not kiddish for a lack of a better word. I loved it

Just be hyper vigilant

I DO think there are helpful things here. However the way this is framed comes across somewhat…Realize your adhd is ruining the lives of those around you… unless you become completely hyper vigilant at conforming to neurotypical standards. There isn’t talk of what to do with burnout, paralysis, depression and anxiety. I think this was helpful advice maybe 20 years ago. But it has aged badly in a world where we are trying to acquire a more healthy understanding of what it means to be neurodivergent in a society not built for us. The solution can’t just be “build your life to mask that you are typical”.
