Resumen del Editor

Sherman Holmes has officially settled into his new city, and the World's Greatest Detective Agency has opened its doors. While his put-upon partner, Watson, would be happy to keep the jobs as simple as missing pets, when a worried worker with an outlandish tale of ghosts walks in, there's no stopping Sherman from taking the case.

Now, the new duo must investigate a local "haunted" tourist site where the scares are going off-script and otherworldly interference is suspected. With Sherman lost in the history of the mystery, Watson finds himself needing to adapt quickly to his new job's unique challenges.

Facing booby-trapped halls to navigate, pesky former coworkers popping in without warning, and growing attention from a local criminal element, even an operative of Watson's talents is going to need some help getting through this case alive.

Instead, he has Sherman Holmes.

About the Creator

Drew Hayes is an author from Texas who has written several books and found the gumption to publish a few (so far). He graduated from Texas Tech with a B.A. in English, because evidently he's not familiar with what the term “employable” means. You can read more of his growing work at his website, www.drewhayesnovels.com, send him mail and movie offers at Novelistdrew@gmail.com, or just follow his Twitter: @DrewHayesNovels. Hayes has been called one of the most profound, prolific, and talented authors of his generation, but a table full of drunks will say almost anything when offered a round of free shots. Hayes feels kind of like a D-bag writing about himself in the third person like this. He does appreciate that you're still reading, though. Hayes would like to sit down and have a beer with you. Or a cocktail. He's not here to judge your preferences. Hayes is terrible at being serious, and has no real idea what a snippet biography is meant to convey anyway. Hayes thinks you are awesome just the way you are. That part, he meant. Hayes is off to go high-five random people, because who doesn't love a good high-five? No one, that's who.

It’s that dang bromance

It wasn’t hard for me to figure out why I liked this book so much: the bromance. In the first novel, Sherman and Watson are trying to figure each other out, so it was good but not amazing. In this one, the chemistry is all there, and that’s awesome. Sherman is crazy and goes off on ridiculous tangents, and Watson just gets him. The understanding and differences between the two characters make a thrilling story where Watson pushes the narrative forward while Sherman gives it color. I love this series already and want more from the world’s greatest detective and his trusty Watson. This book is worth it, but I would recommend reading the first so you can really appreciate the growth between the two characters.

Please keep this series going, Drew Hayes!

I really enjoyed these two books and in asking myself why and how do I put it into a review so others would be encouraged to read them, I thought: Shakespeare’s insults. Sherman’s dialogue is so fun because it is so out (great job Mr. Aiello)

Even better than the first

Solid second installment. This book was so fun. A whacky haunted house was the perfect setting for this mystery, and I can't wait to continue this series. The narration was fantastic and truly brought Hayes' already vivid characters to life.

Enjoyable

Not as good as the first novel, but I enjoyed it immensely. The return of Sherlock and Watson. A decent story with enough twists and laughs to keep you glued in until the end.

I Laughed Out Loud!

I don’t usually read books that are both mysteries and funny. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. My little dog, who sleeps curled up next to me while I listen to audio books, kept being startled by my unusual guffaws.

Not as good as the first one but not bad either.

This one just didn't hit me like the first one. In all fairness, I loved the first one and this one is a good story. I figured it out early in and I have never done that with Mr. Hayes books before, maybe that is why I dropped it one star out of 15 total? I will still listen to the next one when it comes out. The production and narration was spot on.

so-so book

the story was very lackluster compared with the preceding novel. no exciting reveals our interesting plot twist oh, just a ho-hum straight-ahead story. The best part was the wonderful voice acting of mr. Aiello.Polk

Even better than the first...

I liked this even more than the first book, which I loved.

I hope another one is on the way. It sure looked like the author plans more by the way the characters are becoming more established and gaining resources.

If you like mysteries and you like humor, don't pass these up. Note: It isn't really a mystery for the reader to figure out--this isn't a book where you are intended to follow the clues yourself and put things together, though you can piece some things together.

This is like Monk meets Get Smart meets Dirk Gently's Detective Agency. I even think Drew deliberately nodded at Dirk Gently's with the cat sub-plot.

Hysterically funny in parts. The characters are lovable. The way that the relationship between Watson and Sherman grows in this book is delightful.

Silly, ridiculous, family friendly, and very heartfelt

While Sherman Holmes may wear the deerstalker hat of his long past (and somewhat fictional) ancestor, he has no less brilliance, if only Watson could figure out just what Sherman was saying! This story is fun, humerus, and extremely entertaining, while the characters slowly become people you genuinely care about. An absolute must read.
