Rob West writes about a starship in a tree in his Star-Fighters series. It is not surprising that he often retreats to do his writing in a (flying) pirate ship he built in a tree in his own back yard. It is a peaceful place away from the hustle and bustle created by three sons (and their cronies), two dogs, three cats, one dove. . . and, when she chooses to drop in out of the sky, a duck! Robert has been many things in his life--a university professor, an actor, a theater director, a stage designer, a screenwriter, an architectural model maker, a computer programmer, an Associate Producer and/or story editor for several movies . . . and, along the way, a husband and father of three sons. He grew up in Indianapolis where he played football and enjoyed annual trips to the Indy 500. After completing undergraduate and graduate studies, he entered theater production, eventually migrating to Malibu, California, to take a position as Assoc. Professor and Director of Theater at Pepperdine University. He took leave of Pepperdine to resume doctoral studies (begun at Florida State University) at UCLA, focusing upon the theater in medieval society, later adding studies of the theater in antebellum American society. Circumstances took an unexpected turn and Robert moved into the film Industry, becoming Director of Development and Story Editor for several major motion pictures, including Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Robert is a versatile writer, with credits ranging from his biography of Saint Francis to historical fiction and religious drama to radio and television commercials and, of course, to his children's adventure novels. Rob lives with his family near Los Angeles. He is active as a singer in local music productions and as an actor with several regional theatrical companies.
