Peter Haugen is an editor, journalist, and author whose books include World History for Dummies (3rd edition) and Was Napoleon Poisoned?: And Other Unsolved Mysteries of Royal History (John Wiley & Sons, Inc.). A graduate of the University of California–Berkeley, he has contributed to History magazine and is a co-writer of The Armchair Reader: The Amazing Book of History (West Side Publishing), Mental Floss Presents Condensed Knowledge (HarperResource), and Mental Floss Presents Forbidden Knowledge (Collins). He also wrote Biology: Decade by Decade (Twentieth-Century Science series, Facts on File). He worked for several newspapers, including The Sacramento Bee and The Tampa Bay Times, and edited the online publication Best Thinking. Haugen has been an adjunct instructor at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and California State University–Fresno and is a U.S. Army veteran. He lives in Boston.
