Pauline Dakin is an award winning journalist and author. Her bestselling memoir Run, Hide, Repeat: A Memoir of a Fugitive Childhood is the 2018 winner of the prestigious Edna Staebler Prize for Creative Non-Fiction. It was also named one of the Top 100 Books of 2017 by The Globe and Mail, Longlisted for British Columbia’s National Award for Canadian Non-Fiction 2018; Shortlisted for the 2018 Evelyn Richardson Non-fiction Award; Shortlisted for the 2018 Atlantic Book Awards – Margaret and John Savage First Book Award; Shortlisted for the 2018 Frank Hegyi Award for Emerging Authors. Pauline has worked in print, television, and radio. She spent most of her broadcasting career at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) as a national reporter, host of a weekly documentary program, and senior producer. Much of that time she was a health reporter and a trusted voice on medical and science stories. She is now a professor of journalism at the University of King's College in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Originally from North Vancouver, B.C., Pauline spent early childhood summers in Point Roberts, Washington.
