Writer, scholar and explorer, Mitchell Schwarzer is professor of architectural and urban history at California College of the Arts. He earned his BA in history from Washington University in St. Louis, his Masters in City and Regional Planning from Harvard University, and after working for several years as a City Planner for San Francisco returned to the Boston area and completed his PhD in the History, Theory and Criticism of Architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Author of five books and over 130 essays and articles, he has also taught at the Rhode Island School of Design and the University of Illinois at Chicago. Schwarzer lives in Oakland California.
