Mark Jude Poirier is the author of two collections of short stories, "Naked Pueblo" and "Unsung Heroes of American Industry," as well as two novels, "Goats" and "Modern Ranch Living." He also edited and contributed to an anthology of short fiction called "The Worst Years of Your Life." His books have been New York Times notable books of the year, as well as Barnes and Noble Discover and Waterstone's UK picks. In September, Scribner/Simon and Schuster published "Intro to Alien Invasion," a graphic novel illustrated by Nancy Ahn and co-written with Owen King. Poirier has written several screenplays, including "Hateship Loveship," which he adapted from an Alice Munro story. The film stars Kristen Wiig and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2013. His two other produced scripts, "Goats" and "Smart People," premiered at Sundance. He's a graduate of Georgetown, Stanford, Johns Hopkins, and the Iowa Writer's Workshop, and currently holds a Briggs-Copeland Lectureship on English at Harvard. Poirier grew up mainly in Tucson, where much of his work is set. He lives in New York with his partner, Ed Cahill, an English professor at Fordham.
