Janelle Hanchett created the blog Renegade Mothering in 2011 to determine if the rest of the mothering world was crazy or she was. Writing after her kids went to bed and while she was supposed to be working, Janelle invited readers to join her in “the fight against helpful parenting advice” and wrote candidly about the darker sides of motherhood, including her own recovery from alcoholism. She eventually attracted an audience of hundreds of thousands of readers - so, she may be crazy, but she's not alone. Her first book, I'm Just Happy to Be Here, was published on May 1, 2018 by Hachette Books. She lives in northern California with her four children and husband, Mac, who thinks "getting dressed up" means shaving his forearm tattoo.
