Dr. John R. Hargrove (1937-2014) was born in the Arlington County Hospital in Riverside, CA. His parents, Scott Sr. and Lucille, lived in a small cottage in Anza, where they grew chickens, cattle and a large garden. John and his brother, Scott Jr., attended elementary school in the Anza one room school. The family moved to Santa Monica where John went to Junior High and High School. Years later, John became a public school teacher. He loved his job, so he wrote children's novels, based on relationships he had with some of his pupils. The books are high quality and reveal the outstanding life of sixth grade kids in 1970's and 1980's.
