J.B. Morrison was born in London in the swinging sixties to two parents Frank and Jenny. As Jim Bob, the singer of Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine he had 14 top 40 singles and a number one album, selling over a million records, touring the world and headlining Glastonbury. After initially splitting up in 1997 Carter reformed ten years later for a series of huge sold out best live band in the world ever shows until they called it a day again in 2014. Jim Bob has written songs for Ian Dury and for the 2006 Barbican production of Mark Ravenhill’s Dick Whittington & His Cat, directed by Edward Hall and starring Trigger from Only Fools and Horses. In August 2010 he made his Edinburgh Fringe debut in the Ward and White musical ‘Gutted, A Revenger’s Musical’. Outside of Carter Jim Bob has had a long and varied solo career. He has released eight solo albums and had five books published – ‘Goodnight Jim Bob – On The Road With Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine’ (Cherry Red Books) and four novels; ‘Storage Stories’ (Ten Forty Books), ‘Driving Jarvis Ham’ (Harper Collins) ‘The Extra Ordinary Life of Frank Derrick, Age 81’ and ‘Frank Derrick's Holiday of a Lifetime’ (Both Pan Macmillan) and published under the name J.B. Morrison and translated into French, Italian, German, Japanese, Turkish, Czech and Dutch. ‘The Extra Ordinary Life of Frank Derrick’ reached number 5 in the Amazon Kindle chart and number 1 in Humorous Fiction. The 2015 sequel: ‘Frank Derrick’s Holiday of a Lifetime’ won the ‘Best Older Person’s Character in a Book, Film, TV or Radio Drama’ in Gransnet’s Older People in the Media Awards. The author’s second memoir 'Jim Bob From Carter – In the Shadow of my Former Self' was published by Cherry Red Books in March 2019. His latest J.B. Morrison novel ‘A Godawful Small Affair’ is published by Cherry Red Books on 19 March 2020. The paperback edition includes another new J.B. Morrison novel: ‘Harvey King Unboxes His Family’.
