Don Cygan is an author, historian, and professor. He is also a former daily newspaper reporter and free-lance writer. As part of his professional and personal interests, Cygan has studied various aspects of history, military history, military journalism, and foreign affairs for decades. As a reporter, Cygan covered breaking news, features, and the police beat. During Operation Desert Storm he served in the US Army, providing public relations for the Department of Defense. For the past several years, Cygan has interviewed WWII veterans and veterans of other recent conflicts. His fascination with the Battle of the Bulge led to his casting as an extra in the 2003 movie "Saints and Soldiers." Cygan's education is in military history, journalism/mass communications, and political science. He has a Bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Colorado, a Master's degree from Norwich University and a Master's degree in communications from Denver University. Cygan currently works as a history professor at Red Rocks Community College in Lakewood, Colorado. He lives in Evergreen, Colorado.
