Derek hails from the farm-rich land of Missouri and claims to write apologetic literature and humorous parodies, although the parodies have yet to be acknowledged as humorous or even slightly like able. He has a wife named Wendu who has put up with him for at least a quarter of a century and five children aged 4-19. Derek has had numerous jobs, including working with taxes, customer service and he once worked for a homeless shelter.
