I am a Psychologist, currently devoting my time to writing. Even as a youngster I was hungry to know more about what made people "tick". I yearned to learn more about the world around us, and the private, inner world inside each of us. My life experiences and my work (both seeing clients and being a client myself) have only deepened my respect for the intricacy of our psychological and neurological selves. As an author, my hope is to explore topics and lives in a way that spreads that curiosity to others. I am greatly honored to have collaborated on numerous articles and book chapters, as well as 2 books with Dr. Temple Grandin: "Navigating Autism" (Norton, 2021), and "The Loving Push" (Future Horizons, 2016). I also wrote the chapter "Internet and Gaming Addiction in Youth on the Autism Spectrum: A Particularly Vulnerable Population", for the book Internet Addiction in Children and Adolescents: Risk Factors, Treatment and Prevention, edited by Dr.Kimberly Young & Dr. Cristiano Nabuco de Abreu. (Springer, 2017.) I contributed 2 chapters to the book "The Nine Degrees of Autism", (Rutledge, 2015), which describes the experiences of those diagnosed as adults. I wrote the chapter on diagnosis, and co-authored with Dr. Temple Grandin the final chapter. For Autism Asperger's Digest, I wrote: "The Search for Autism Triggers: Two Different Chemicals Questioned at the University of California" (May-June 2015), and "Buying Video Games This Holiday Season - What You Need to Know to Guide Your Decision" November-January, 2016). Beginning in 2016 I periodically contributed articles to Autism Parenting Magazine, starting with "Kids & Teens Need Stretching: An Interview on the topic with Dr. Temple Grandin" (June 2016). I joined the panel of regular columnists for Autism Parenting Magazine in June, 2017. I founded and have facilitated the LinkedIn group Autism Across the Lifespan since 2009, which now has over 6000 members who share resources and information. I also facilitate the Facebook page www.facebook.com/Navigating Autism and The Loving Push Previously, I was the founder of Fall Creek Counseling Associates, which I directed for 35 years prior to retiring in 2015. This private clinic had offices in the greater Sacramento, California area, and was an accredited training site for predoctoral psychology interns and postdoctoral fellows. While there I had the honor of both seeing clients and mentoring therapists in training. My specialties have been: Asperger's and Autism Spectrum Disorders Child, teen, and adult psychotherapy. Diagnostic evaluations. Consultation and coaching to individuals, companies, and organizations. Media liaison via speaking and writing. While at Fall Creek, for many years I also wrote columns for several local publications, including "The Doctor Is In" in Senior Magazine, and "He Said, She Said" for Style Magazine.
