Dear Reader, Welcome to my Author Page! My goal as an author is to recall memories from America's most prosperous time for the 'Middle-Class' population - the time after World War II. If our parents were the "Greatest Generation," we were the luckiest! We benefited from the social programs their generation put in place for us, starting in the 1930's. My three memoirs, "Kiss Your Elbow - A Kentucky Memoir, Changing the Sheets - A Kentucky Memoir, and Opening a New Window - A Kentucky Memoir," use my personal history and the history of my family, as a representative of this era. I use vivid recall of place, personality and sentiment of the period, to bring back 'the good old days.' Born in the early 1940's, I was part of the "Silent Generation" (those born between 1939 -1944), I use amazing memory to recall a time when most Americans had jobs and abundance was on the rise! A representative of the steady progression of women, my life and my struggles tell of our, 'Silent Generation Women' as we fought for woman's rights and for woman's placement in the workforce, while raising a family. As the reader, in my first book, "Kiss Your Elbow," you will re-experience the joys of shopping at the big, beautiful department stores downtown and enjoying collecting 'Depression-Era; Glassware from the filling stations, etc. Also featured, is the life of the 'oldest girl' in a family of 11 siblings, due to the 'Baby-Boom,' crunch. (We were the second mother). The 2nd book, "Changing the Sheets," shows the shy, young 'Silent Generation' wife, going through Vietnam and the tumultuous 1960's, and Charles Manson and the murderous '70s. The 3rd book, "Opening a New Window," tells of life for a divorced woman of the 1980's and beyond. This was/is a time of shrinking social programs and reduction of the battles won for women, in our earlier years. My writing aims to bring back to mind with clear detail, positive nostalgia, with good humor. Great gifts for older folks in your family. Soon to be out in audio form!
