D. Gamblez was born and raised in Gary, Indiana; in the heart of the ghetto. Gamblez has in-depth and personal knowledge of the hardships that comes with growing up in the hood. Growing up surrounded by gang violence and drug activity with seven other siblings in a single-parent household was hard on Gamblez' family at times but the motivation to push forward never stopped. And even though at times Gamblez prevailed over the odds, things sometimes took a turn for the worst as disloyalty and mistrust was usually the price to pay for living the lifestyle of a drug dealer or gang member. Most of the stories that Gamblez write about are true, with just enough creative embellishment to make for a good read. The characters that she utilizes are also authentic. Gamblez' goal is to share numerous stories from an honest and true point of view with the hopes to one day give back to the community to help ease the burden and pain and suffering there, especially so now with millions of blacks dying every day from the latest Covid pandemic. Violence and tears is what Gamblez witnessed most while growing up in Gary, Indiana, but the goal now is to bring some sort of peace in the way of these stories and to help wipe away some of those tears by giving people who are on the outside of the ghetto life real in-dept knowledge of what hood life is truly like. From the streets to your eyes and ears, Gamblez means to share these stories with any reader interested in a good urban tale, while at the same time paying homage to the city of G.I.. -T.A.B. for life.
