Colleen is a self motivated Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) who believes in equality and justice for all. Having migrated from Jamaica, eight years prior and now lives in Canada, she expressed disappointment in the ways in which Indigenous peoples in Canada were marginalized and discriminated against. It is against this background that she decided to be the voice of the voiceless, in this case the native Canadians. She took up this cause with a keen sense of purpose and consideration for this group. Colleen holds a master’s degree in Social Sciences, specifically in social work. She decided to use what she gained through academia via the written pages, to articulate to the world that all men are equal in all areas of endeavors as it relates to a human being. Colleen proceeded to expose these inequalities by probing into the child welfare system of Canada and highlights some of the tyranny that currently exists in this sensitive and critical organization whose mandate is to protect, guide, accommodate, enable, and facilitate children. Colleen has an extreme passion in empowering youths as well as the patience in building bridges of opportunities for those who are abused, neglected and castaway to the fringes of society. She has built on the philosophy that every child should have the opportunity to live a fulfilled, meaningful, and beneficial life regardless of the situation or circumstances that surround him/her. Her goal is to build a bridge of hope and aspiration to each individual life she touches, which will create the critical opportunities and avenues for children to make it to their lives’ goals and ambitions, despite the uncertainty and challenges of today’s society. Taking into consideration her aims and objectives which she is undertaking with such zeal and passion all well-thinking individuals will readily commend and wish Colleen all the absolute best in effort to do a ‘child crusade’ , she will make life much more manageable and easier for the world’s future generation.
