I love words--I was a teacher and then a principal for 38 years. As a teacher of young children the most important job for me was to foster a love for words in my students, in written and reading formats. When you are having fun you are learning without even knowing that you are learning--this brings me to another passion close to my heart--helping disadvantage children to be successful at school and develop a positive belief in themselves. Reading is the key that opens the door to all learning--confident readers are primed ready for success. My passion for words, and, a fair go for all, has lead me on a very interesting journey with my own writing. Puzzle Supreme and the Tooth Fairy Team was my first book. Author Chris Shelton takes young readers to equine world ‘Puzzle Supreme and the Tooth Fairy Team’ brings excitement as it introduces the story of a pony tooth fairy AUSTRALIA – Author Chris Shelton and his kids’ pony club, the Millicent Pony Club consists of a small but highly motivated group of kids, ponies and parents. The club once joined the Horse Deals Magazine “Pony Club of the Month” competition and presented a poem about an equine tooth fairy as its claim to fame. However, the kids were disheartened when a number of months flew by and the club was still not featured in the magazine. Shelton then decided to turn the poem into a book to give the kids a sense of accomplishment. He now introduces “Puzzle Supreme and the Tooth Fairy Team,” an engaging story filled with life lessons. “Puzzle Supreme and the Tooth Fairy Team” is the story of Puzzle, a delightful and mischievous pony with a perverse mind of his own. Unbeknownst to everyone, Puzzle is a pony tooth fairy. This is a well-kept secret in the equine world—Millicent ponies and riders have been specially chosen for this magical job and are sworn to secrecy. Each night when the dark settles in, Puzzle meets with his team of ponies and riders to put the night’s work schedule into place. They work all night, but as soon as the sun peeks through they resume their daytime jobs—eating grass in a paddock. All the characters in the book are real kids and ponies. Shelton, with the encouragement of his kids, made sure that every page bursts with excitement to keep readers absorbed to the story. “Puzzle Supreme and the Tooth Fairy Team” does not only entertain readers with its illustrations, it also offers valuable lessons. The ponies in the book teach children that life is not always about winning; it is about being the best one can be.
