My career in Biblical Studies began in 2nd grade, when I gathered my friends on the playground during recess to begin a Bible read-through. I never really moved on to other interests, though I'm curious about nearly everything! I earned a BA in Bible/Theology (Multnomah University), an MA in Biblical Studies (Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary), and a PhD in Biblical Theology with a concentration in Old Testament (Wheaton College). After four years teaching Old Testament at Prairie College in Alberta, I moved to Biola University in Southern California. Current areas of scholarly research include Exodus, the Sinai narratives, clothing in the Hebrew Bible, metaphor in the Bible, and clothing metaphors in the Psalms. I'm particularly passionate about bridging the gap between the church and the academy, helping laypeople discover accessible resources for biblical study. Current projects include a book about what it means to be the image of God (IVP Academic) and a commentary on Exodus (Baker Academic).
