Bill Herrington worked as a laborer on pipeline construction crews in several states during the summers of 1979 and 1980. His first pipeline job was in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, three months after the nuclear accident at Three Mile Island, just south of Harrisburg. A 2016 organized protest of the Dakota Access Pipeline in downtown Houston inspired Herrington to write The Green Real Deal, which explores the truth about Russia, China, and the energy policies needed to power the world. The Green Real Deal offers a path forward for Americans who want to understand the climate change debate and determine a realistic green energy policy for the United States, including: • Why Russia is spreading propaganda to destroy oil & gas shale development and divide democracy • Why peace and national security won't exist without oil, natural gas, and pipelines • The three faulty accusations behind American Indian protests against pipelines • How environmental activists and "dark money" are weakening our nation and strengthening Russia and China • The dirty secrets of "green" energy • Why the U.S. quit nuclear power—and why it deserves a second chance • The five truths of a balanced energy path moving forward Herrington's first book, Contraflow, won the 2017 Independent Publisher Bronze Medal for Best Regional Nonfiction (South U.S.). In Contraflow, Herrington weaves together the lives of people, businesses, and entire cities that were temporarily reversed and permanently altered by one of the most catastrophic storms in U.S. history, Hurricane Katrina. But from the destruction emerged a humanitarian response that few people will ever experience. Contraflow is a tribute to the civic, corporate, and educational leaders who stepped up to show leadership and compassion and to provide critical resources and hope in the aftermath of a devastating storm. Bill White, former Houston mayor and chairman of Lazard Houston, wrote about Contraflow, "In a gripping and well-informed account of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Herrington shares inspiring stories of everyday heroes who overcame adversity, helped others do so, and who turned individual tragedies into a community triumph." After graduating from Louisiana State University, Herrington began a 35-year career in corporate banking, which included a focus on the energy service industry in south Louisiana and Texas. He has completed the Harvard Business School general manager program and is co-founder of the Amerisource Secured Income Fund. He is now a private equity and private credit investor based in Houston, Texas. Contact Herrington for media appearances, speaking engagements, and more at his website, thegreenrealdeal.
