Anne Heffron won't stop talking about adoption and the importance of adopted people feeling enabled and empowered to tell their stories. She is a big believer in the transformative nature of community for adoptees. She writes books about these subjects, blogs about them, and posts on Instagram about them because a silent adopted person is bad news. Just as a plant without roots is not long for the world, an adopted person without the felt-permission and ability to know and tell their story is already one step out the door. You can't take a mother away from a baby and expect the baby to live a normal life. (A not-normal life can be a gorgeous thing when you stop thinking it's supposed to be something else.)
