Alastair Turnbull is a freelance Audio Visual Technician, author and public speaker. For over 20 years he has travelled the world, working as an A.V. Technician at conferences, road shows, exhibitions and many other types of events. During the past ten years he has also developed a career writing non fiction books and public speaking. Alastair created a web site, www.TheDrinkingMansGuideToScotland.com After working on s series of road shows with a large drinks company. He became fascinated by the huge variety of quality drinks that are produced in Scotland, fascinated by the people behind the drinks, and was impressed by the effort that goes into making them. This led to his first book - ‘The Tartan Pint’ which explored all aspects of craft brewing in Scotland. Alastair loves the works of the Poet ‘Robert Burns’. Unfortunately the language Burns used can be difficult to understand, which puts a lot of people off reading his work. This is the reason he started to write about Burns, he wanted to make it much easier for people to understand and appreciate his work. This is why there are modern, easy to understand, translations of Robert’s poems included in each of the three books Alastair has written about Robert Burns. Whilst touring around the world working, Alastair became interested in the different social aspects of drinking. Each country had their own traditions and rules on how, when and where to drink. They also had their own toasts and toasting etiquette. This led to his fifth book, ’Toasts & Toasting’ A Simple Guide To Great Toasts, Blessings & Gracies. As a proud Scotsman Alastair has travelled all over his home country for both work and pleasure. Over the years he has sailed to the islands, walked the West Highland way, driven the NC500, swam in the North Sea and climbed Ben Nevis. He has also indulged his passion of visiting as many pubs in Scotland as humanly possible. Those years of experience, and love of pubs, has resulted in his latest book ‘100 Sottish Pubs’, Your Thirst Quenching Guide To Scotland. This book is really Alastairs love letter to Scottish Pubs. Alastair is based near Edinburgh, Scotland - Where he lives with his wife and two teenage daughters.
