Publisher's Summary

Counter to traditional marketing wisdom, which tries to count, measure, and manipulate the spread of information, Seth Godin argues that information can spread most effectively from customer to customer, rather than from business to customer. Godin calls this powerful customer-to-customer dialogue the ideavirus. In Unleashing the Ideavirus, Godin examines how companies like Napster and Hotmail have successfully launched ideaviruses. He offers a recipe for creating your own ideavirus, and shows how businesses can use ideavirus marketing to succeed in a world that doesn't want to hear it anymore from traditional marketers.

Do not waist your time. This book sounds like a late night infomercial.

I really enjoyed this book. Godin is right on the money when he says your product, your idea has to replicate itself. I think Godin is ahead of his time and those that follow (creating ideaviruses) will do well!

If you have a great product and you want to try a different approach to marketing it to the masses (well, your demographic) then you should get this book. O.K, so after you downloaded it you wil discover that the PDF written version is free (www.ideavirus.com) - you won't care though because to hear the book makes it all the more relevant. Seth inspires, educates and entertains and his book is like a good wine, it gets better each time you return to it.

A good "idea" but not at Viral stage, at least yet.

Why?

Examples are fairly shallow, limited to those which are primarily about e-buisness anyway, and the style of presentation fails to capture the excite that is likely to gnerate much word-of-mouth from listener/reader to anyone else.
