Publisher's Summary

Diana Gabaldon's magnificent historical saga, begun with Outlander and Dragonfly in Amber, continues with this New York Times best seller. Set in the intriguing Scotland of 200 years ago, the third installment in the romantic adventures of Jamie and Claire is as compelling as the first. Now that Claire knows Jamie survived the slaughter at Culloden, she is faced with the most difficult decision of her life. She aches to travel back through time again to find the love of her life, but, in order to do that, she must leave their daughter behind. It has been 20 years since she and Jamie were forced to separate. Can she risk everything, maybe even her life, on a gamble that their love has withstood the long, rigorous test of time?

Diana Gabaldon's powerful, witty, and heroic characters lend themselves well to the rich, melodic narration accorded them by Davina Porter. Under her spell, listeners find themselves transported back through time to exciting, faraway places alive with people they would enjoy knowing.

Great Scot! Don't miss the complete Outlander series:
Outlander
Dragonfly in Amber
Voyager
Drums of Autumn
The Fiery Cross
A Breath of Snow and Ashes
An Echo in the Bone

Please note: Even though Recorded Books has produced unabridged editions of both The Fiery Cross and A Breath of Snow and Ashes, they do not have what's called "digital rights" for those recordings. That means they can sell them in CD format, but they cannot yet distribute them via digital services such as Audible and iTunes. The last time we checked with Diana's agent, his belief was that it could take until sometime next year to resolve the situation. It's wrapped up in contracts and such that have to be untangled. Unfortunately, that's out of our hands. But we keep pushing. Stay tuned!

What the Critics Say

"Triumphant....Her use of historical detail and truly adult love story confirm Gabaldon as a superior writer." (Publishers Weekly)

Definitely not as strong as Outlander or Dragonfly in Amber but this story was good. After reading the other books in the series, I feel as if I know the characters and I was eager to listen to the next installment. I was a little disappointed. This book on it's own tended to drag a little in parts.

Just be sure you understand the order, I read or at least started Drums of Autumn not realizing it was after Voyager, it reads OK, but so much it described I couldn't remember happening, that was because it had occurred in the previous book of the series. I love the series and plan to go through waitng for the unabridged versions of the 5th, 6th and 7th ones.

This is my favorite book out of this series. You have to read Outlander to understand what is going on but trust me its well worth it. The characters become like friends and you find yourself caring about them and there story while learning a great deal about Scottish history. Outstanding book.

Glad to have more adventures of Jamie and Claire. Davina Porter is a dream to listen to. As soon as I hear her voice I am whisked back to the 18th century and fall in love with Diana Gabaldon's stories all over again.
