Publisher's Summary

About three things I was certain.

First, Edward was a vampire.

Second, there was a part of him, and I didn't know how dominant that part might be, that thirsted for my blood.

And Third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.

Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balanced precariously on the point of a knife, between desire and danger.

Deeply sensuous and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.

Don't miss the other titles in the Twilight Saga.

What is all the hype about? I'm a female in my mid 30's - what's so great about vampire-meets-girl teen saga, and why are all my friends hooked harder than their pre-teen daughters? Have listened to the whole series by now and YES, it's fluffy. YES, Bella's stupefied adoration is over-the-top. But there is *something* there that speaks to us...and I still can't put my finger on it. My mom is onto them now, so make that three generations of women hooked on Edward. Pretty good listens - but after listening through four books, I want to smack Ilyana everytime she says "Jake-up". Still, I don't think she's as bad as some reviewers claim, and at least the producers didn't change readers midway through the series (a-la-House of Night). When I saw the movie, I wondered if I would have "gotten it" had I not listened to the book. Fun, sustained listens... Go on, you know you want to!

It's gets quite sappy at times, but the story grips me from the start. This is my least favorite of the saga but I still haven't tired of reading/listening to it.

I think the appeal of these to adult readers starts at book 3. I think Book 1 is a bit overrated by itself. There is little to no plot until the last 1/3 of the book The major mystery up until then is "what os Edward?" and we all know what the answer to that is form the first page, so... let's just say it is a bit dull and derivative for a while.

But books 3 and 4 are really fun and well worth the reading of the first two, slower books. I overall give the sires a 4 star rating, with 3 for 1-2, and 5 for 3-4.

I love the books, I read them all. But I chose to download the books for my Dyslexic daughter so she could her the words unabridged and follow along with books. Her LD teacher thinks it is great. Something to keep her interests and something that will help her recognize different words. It is addictive. So she is getting all the Twilight Saga books and an iPod for Christmas.

I listened to this book in 2 days, on a road trip. I couldn't stop listening. I was completely drawn in. Yes, the story line is intended for younger readers, but I was swept away to Forks, right along with the characters.
