Publisher's Summary

"I am Dageus MacKeltar, a man with one good conscience and 13 bad ones, driven to sate my darkest desires...."

From his penthouse lair high above Manhattan, Dageus looks out over a glittering city that calls to the darkness within him. A 16th-century Scot trapped between worlds, he is fighting a losing battle with the 13 Druids who possess his soul, dooming him to an eternity of sexual pursuit.

When Chloe Zanders, student of antiquities, is drawn into his world, she finds the insatiable alpha male an irresistible lure. Before long, she is caught up in an ancient prophecy that will sweep her back in time to medieval Scotland. Plunged into a world of timeless magic and dark seduction, she will soon face the challenge of a lifetime: fighting 13 evil spirits for the heart of one irresistible man.

Great Scot! Don't miss our other titles in the Highlander series.

What the Critics Say

"This wild, imaginative romp takes readers on an exhilarating ride through time and space." (Publishers Weekly)

From AudioFile

Dageus MacKelter, a sixteenth-century Scot, travels to twentieth-century New York to change the fate of his twin brother, Drustan. In doing so, he unleashes the ancient evil of 13 Druids who now posses his body. The solutions to both of Dageus's problems lie within a set of ancient books and with antiquities student Chloe Zanders. Narrator Phil Gigante's baritone sets the tone for this tale of ancient Scotland, Druid magic, and the fae. His voice is perfect for the sexy presentation one expects from romantic fiction. His even pace and cool style maintain the mellow tone. However, frequent melodramatic vocal inflections throughout are a distraction. And vocal variations that represent the dialogue of multiple characters--specifically Scots accents--are sometimes inconsistent and stilted. 2009 Audies Finalist (c) AudioFile 2009

To compare this author's books to Gabaldon's Outlander series is like comparing pulp fiction to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The story line is poorly developed, predictable, and pared down, devoid of historical references, and the kind of detail that brings the people, places, processes, politics, and beliefs of the period to life. The characters are uni-dimensional and never evoke feelings of empathy. The prose is so simplistic that it was difficult to finish listening to this book. Gabaldon, on the other hand, has written another 5 star book, An Echo in the Bones, wonderfully narrated by Davina Porter, worth every minute of the 45 plus hours, wanting it not to end.

I enjoy a good romance and don't mind steamy sex but this was ridiculous, and the narration was annoying.

Phil Gigante does the most amazing job reading this series! His voice just makes you melt, especially when he is doing one of the Scottish Brogues!

WARNING though! Even though it's not marked as such, this book is in the middle of a series. Most of the books can be just read as stand alone, but for this one, you really do need to listen to "Kiss of the Highlander" first. But trust me, they are worth the credits!

I loved her highlander series, and definitely enjoyed the narrator. Can't wait for the next book. Hope it goes to audiobook soon. (w/the same narrator of course).

I liked the storyline and the romantic scenes were good but the tones the narrator used for the main heroine was a bit off-putting. She didn't sound like the intelligent person she was supposed to be when the narrator was saying her "speaking" lines. I preferred her "thinking" parts because the narrator used his own voice which didn't sound so forced.
