Publisher's summary

Whisper Ridge, a multimillion-dollar architectural project built to house paroled murderers, was the passion of Alexandra Sanabria, the daughter of a deceased Mafia don. But the program never got off the ground. Uninhabited but also kept off the market, with taxes paid by a legal trust that Sanabria established just before she and her husband left town, the home remains as a strange monument to dangerous secrets.

While the couple's abrupt exit was unique, it was also not regarded as criminal until the bones of Alexandra's husband were found more than a decade later. Private investigator Lincoln Perry has mixed feelings when an ex-con hires him to find Alexandra. It is a task that will challenge both Perry's abilities as a detective and his commitment to that calling.

Great book why do I have to give a review on your terms of how many words when one sums it up

Fine Book

Any additional comments?

Michael Koryta is a gifted writer, probably in the top three writing in this genre today. The story was entertaining and usually engrossing, with only a few flat spots. As I often find, certain narrators are well matched for the book and Scott Brick does a masterful job setting the mood and defining the characters through his interpretation and delivery.

This is my second Koryta book and neither has disappointed. This was a credit well spent.

Highly recommended.

okay but didn't live up to expectations

I still love the characters but this particular narrative felt tedious. Almost as if the author channeled his own apathy into the story

Enjoyed this book

I found Lincoln's hesitation to take the case to be completely understandable and didn't think that it was a continuous theme in the story--as did one of the other reviewers. It will be interesting to see where Lincoln goes from here. the story ended with a twist I hasn't expected. I've enjoyed watching Lincoln Perry develop as a character with the strengths and flaws that make him believable. The supporting characters are well developed and add a great deal to the story.

Scott Brick's clear pronunciation makes listening a pleasure.

Predictable

No surprises in this Lincoln Perry story. Scott Brick has officially crossed the from drama to melodrama in his reading of the story. I still like the characters but was disappointed in this one.

Great series

As usual, Michael Koryta does not fail to keep me on the edge of my seat. I have really enjoyed the entire Lincoln Perry Mystery series and HIGLY RECOMMEND them all!
Great writing that kept me trying to figure out the end. No luck. I had to listen to and absorb EVERY word.
I love MK's books! Rapidly becoming one of my all time favorite writer.
Get the book. You won't regret it.

Not as Strong... but I hope Lincoln is back for #5

I like Koryta's Lincoln Perry series because the protagonist is interesting and complex. I feel that Koryta does a good job of developing Lincoln as well as those who surround him. I was disappointed in the plot line of this novel as it was not as filled with twists and turns as I expected. The resolution did not surprise me.

Disappointing

Brick can save any book ! So I was able to listen to the whole book .

But I really disliked Lincoln's character in this book. He was petty, whiney, and not a very good detective.

I have enjoyed this series--twice now. A shame the author stopped with four. the combination of Koryta's Lincoln Perry and Scott Brick are winners for me.
Michael Koryta is an excellent storyteller, especially for his age.
I will be reading more of his work now that I've nearby exhausted Victor Methos!
