Publisher's summary

From number one New York Times best-selling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical, martial-arts action.

Who is the Hero of Ages?

To end the Final Empire and restore freedom, Vin killed the Lord Ruler. But as a result, the Deepness - the lethal form of the ubiquitous mists - is back, along with increasingly heavy ashfalls and ever more powerful earthquakes. Humanity appears to be doomed.

Having escaped death at the climax of The Well of Ascension only by becoming a Mistborn himself, Emperor Elend Venture hopes to find clues left behind by the Lord Ruler that will allow him to save the world. Vin is consumed with guilt at having been tricked into releasing the mystic force known as Ruin from the Well. Ruin wants to end the world, and its near omniscience and ability to warp reality make stopping it seem impossible. She can't even discuss it with Elend, lest Ruin learn their plans!

The conclusion of the Mistborn trilogy fulfills all the promise of the first two books. Revelations abound, connections rooted in early chapters of the series click into place, and surprises, as satisfying as they are stunning, blossom like fireworks to dazzle and delight. It all leads up to a finale unmatched for originality and audacity that will leave listeners shaking their heads in wonder, as if awaking from an amazing dream.

Great performance on a pretty good story

This is book three. If you've made it this far then it's worth it to finish. I think the series is more aimed at young adults. Story is pretty good and there are a few unexpected twists. I'm ultimately glad I read the series but I could have done without some of the seemingly teenage drama between the two primary characters.

Fantastic!

Great ending to a great fantasy trilogy. Sanderson maintained his inventiveness till the end. One can see why he was tapped to complete the WOT saga.

Great Ending

I thought this was a great ending to the first series. I can’t say it ended in the way I thought it would, but it was ver y satisfactory and sets up a start for other works in this universe.

A Most Satisfying Conclusion

It's very rare that a storyteller is able to plant so many seeds without you noticing, and then actually have them pay off in the end. Whatever you may have put up with in the first two books (which were great), absolutely contributes to a fantastic and satisfying ending in the final installment here.

Great action, great use of the magic system. Wonderful peek into the history and lore of the world. This is more in line with the first book; Fast, action, dealing with the magic and world, overall plot. None of the stuff that made the second book boring is in this one.

If you read the first one, I find it very difficult to believe you won't finish the trilogy. You won't be disappointing.

Ultimately, the ending is satisfying. Unlike many books which kind of just stop at a certain point, this one builds up and delivers on an ending that was very much the intended end goal.

Good ending

While I consider this the weakest of the trilogy, it was a worthy conclusion.

The narration was also the weakest, with some characters having mixed or jarringly different voices.

I remember where I was...

Ok, I had listened to a few Sanderson books before I made it to this one. I enjoyed each one increasingly. I loved his unique, but very functional magic systems, his character development, and the twists that somehow always surprised me. Then I can to this book... I was listening to it while driving through the overcrowded maze of pandemonium known as the streets of Bangalore after dark when I came to the big reveal of this book. I almost had an accident and had to pull over a listen to it again! Ever since, Sanderson has held the rank of my favorite contemporary author.

I don't want to give anything away, but Sanderson is true to his incredible story telling art in this book. Character development continues to grow, story plots are brought nicely together, and the conclusion was satisfying. If you want a good book (and you've read the first two), you won't be disappointed. If you want to avoid getting into accidents, either go with a different author, or avoid reading this while operating heavy machinery.

Good book in a great series

I enjoyed it, but not as much as the first two in the series. Excellent reading performance throughout the series.
