True leadership isn't a matter of having a certain job or title. In fact, being chosen for a position is only the first of the five levels every effective leader achieves. To become more than "the boss" people follow only because they are required to, you have to master the ability to invest in people and inspire them. To grow further in your role, you must achieve results and build a team that produces. You need to help people to develop their skills to become leaders in their own right.

Publisher's summary
The 9 Types of Leadership demonstrates how to solve people problems on the job in a quick, efficient, and satisfying way through understanding personality patterns and motivations. In the past few years, mindfulness and other approaches to self-awareness have begun to transform the American workplace. But while it is increasingly widely accepted in the business world that the most direct route to success lies in adopting practices that actively promote a leader's self-awareness, social skill, and emotional intelligence, the best and most efficient path to developing a more conscious workforce often remains unclear.
The 9 Types of Leadership provides a pathway to greater self-awareness and social skillfulness. It will help you orient yourself when you get caught up in people problems that you don't know how to work your way out of.
By providing extremely detailed and accurate descriptions of nine recognizable personalities, The 9 Types of Leadership is an unmatched tool for business people to use to decode the mysteries involved in understanding why people do what they do, why we have conflicts with some people but not others, and how we can become aware of our blind spots. Most importantly, it can help leaders know themselves in a deeper way so they can more effectively lead others.

Since you were old enough to hold a job, you've been hoodwinked to believe that wealth can be created by blindly trusting in the uncontrollable and unpredictable markets: the housing market, the stock market, and the job market. I call this soul-sucking, dream-stealing dogma "The Slowlane" - an impotent financial gamble that dubiously promises wealth in a wheelchair. For those who don't want a lifetime subscription to "settle-for-less", there is an alternative.

With so much riding on innovation, creativity, and spark, it is essential to attract and retain quality talent, but what good does this talent do if no one is able to speak their mind? The traditional culture of "fitting in" and "going along" spells doom in the knowledge economy. Success requires a continuous influx of new ideas, new challenges, and critical thought, and the interpersonal climate must not suppress, silence, ridicule, or intimidate.

Excellent Deep Dive
Dr. Chestnut is my favorite Enneagram scholar. I’ve found a great deal of personal enrichment from learning about the model and reading Dr. Chestnut’s books have been a big part of it- she is unparalleled in expanding the ideas around instinctual variants.
I wouldn’t recommend this book as a jumping off point. It would help to already be familiar with the Enneagram system. For those who are already a bit knowledgeable about their type, this book is a very rewarding listen.

This is what I have been looking for years!
I already had an idea of my tendencies, differences from others, and my weak and strong points. This book really help me to find my personality type as a social 7. This book is particularly valuable because I provides many practical ideas for growth, even though I already have done some, but this is showing me a more clear path. Also I have started understanding others better.
I am an individual contributor in my company, and I see the great potential to help my team and all my relationships to improve and be more productive.
Thank you for putting this book together! It includes so many practical ideas to apply this framework in such clear terms. It provides a useful tool to help teams to be more productive in this time when we encounter so many challenges in an increasing speed.
