Publisher's summary

Once Upon a Time,
There was a king who passed.
He left behind two sons,
one beloved and one outcast.
The older of the two was set to take the throne,
but before he could, he had to find a queen to call his own.
The younger one was known to be unruly and unhinged.
The chosen queen was warned to keep far away from him.
Beautiful and cunning, in the light is where she stayed.
But late at night, it was the shadowed lands in which she played.
Mistakes were made and secrets forged;
forgetting duty and her sense.
And while the new king had her hand,
her heart belonged to the scarred prince.

Scarred is a dark royal romance. It is not a retelling, and it is not fantasy. It has mature situations and themes which may be considered triggers for some. Listener discretion is advised.

Heavy on the smut light on the story line.

I liked this book well enough but I did find the story somewhat weak I feel like the other concentrated a little more on the heated moments more than the storyline and the follow-through with certain characters, all in all not a bad read.

Pleasantly surprised

Generally I did not know what I was getting into and when I tell you in the middle of the book when I found out that this was a real telling Ora different version of the lion King I was all in! I am so happy that I read this book I loved every character every moment I got to see in the spark it was spicy it was heartwarming!! I don’t really like the name Sara for character over I did like Sara B and I like the thing about Simon!!!

Yessss

I loved everything about this story. Miss McIntire delivers again with a morally gray hero who is just 🔥🔥🔥 Both of these narrators were new to me but they were both spectacular! Paul Woodsons voice was so perfect and exactly what I imagined the Scarred Prince to sound like. Give this one a listen you will not be disappointed!! 🦁 👑

Pretty good

I loved her first book "Hooked" so much I decided to give this 1 a try.
Even though I didn't like the narration, or story near as much as I did "Hooked" all in all it was still enjoyable.

Lion King Retelling

“𝙄𝙛 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙨, 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙞𝙣 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚, 𝙎𝙖𝙧𝙖 𝘽𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙪𝙭. 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙙𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙠𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙢𝙚.”

Sara has come to the palace to offer herself as bride to the new King Michael, but in actuality, she has come to seek revenge for the death of her beloved father. Tristan, King Michael’s younger brother, wishes to overthrow the new King. When these two cross paths, it is 🔥.

𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙚 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨, 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙩 𝙮𝙚𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙮 𝙗𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙨. 𝙎𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙨 𝙢𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙧𝙞𝙙 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙚𝙭𝙞𝙨𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙖 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙩𝙨 𝙢𝙚 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙢𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙩𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙨.

I love all the subtle and not so subtle references to the original stories in these books. This one was definitely giving strong 𝘓𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘒𝘪𝘯𝘨 vibes, and I have to say, the male narrator of this audiobook reminded me so strongly of Jeremy Irons/Scar from the animated film, that I was definitely picturing the human version of Scar in my head 😂

This was a slow burn, with lots of built up tension, but when these two finally gave in, it was quite 🥵.

“𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙢 𝙞𝙨, 𝙎𝙖𝙧𝙖, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤 𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪. 𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙚. 𝙊𝙣𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄 𝙘𝙖𝙣’𝙩 𝙨𝙣𝙪𝙛𝙛 𝙤𝙪𝙩, 𝙣𝙤 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙢𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝙄 𝙢𝙖𝙮 𝙩𝙧𝙮.” […] “𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙄’𝙢 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙤𝙤. 𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙞𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙝𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙨𝙤.”

Sara is so strong and brave, and Tristan was just so villainous with a secret sweet side. I just loved these two together, especially when little Simon was around. 🥰

Another fun and steamy read, with lots of great action towards the end, and I’m looking forward to picking the next one up!

Absolutely Filthy

Bruh, this was fiiiiilthy! And violent. And I loved every second of it. Ms. McIntire, hats OFF! This was so good. Much more likable characters than Hooked. This also felt more realistic some how. Even though the world building was ambiguous as hell. I think she said it took place in 1910, but there also seems to be a lot of modern stuff and slang, so idk what’s going on. But I actually found that kind of fun.

I loved the nods to the Lion King! They’re charmingly done. And the ending? *chefs kiss*

I think what made this a 5 star instead of 4 was the performance! Paul Woodson was PHENOMENAL as Scar aka Tristan. He was clearly born for this role. Dude gave me shivers. Ella Lynch was very good too. I loved her voice.

My only thing is that I definitely don’t hate Michael. He’s painted as the villain, but looking at this story from his POV, his anger and actions are totally fair. Plus, he doesn’t even hold a candle to Tristan in the evil category. Tristan is an unrepentant sadist. I mean, in comparison, Michael is a choir boy. But they’re both badies, Tristan is just more fun to root for. Love me a well written villain.

Anyway, if you liked Hooked, I 100% recommend. This is even better. Just know, this is DARK so if blood, violence, torture, and/or graphic kinky sex aren’t your jam, this is sooo not for you.

Great story with minimal but good Spice.

This one was even better than the first. I loved the snarky FMC and the banter/commentary was delightful. I was worried that being set in an older time period I would not like it but it did not in any way. It was so fun to connect the dots between this and a favorite childhood story. I loved the character development, and the ending made me tear up. I didn’t feel like the ending was a bit rushed after such a long build-up but still a great story and one I would recommend. The spice was minimal but what was there was nice. I finished this book in 2 days.

Entertaining But I Liked Hooked Better

I like the play on words and references to the original story. Wasn't a huge fan of Sarah's name being Sarah B. at the beginning of every chapter. Made her sound like a child in my head. The story was good, though the ending felt rushed with details thrown in to make things fit. Some plot holes as well that didn't really blend well. Entertaining enough though.
