After obtaining his M.D. and practicing medicine in the United Kingdom and Africa, Lenny Peters came to the U.S. and founded the Bethany Medical Center in High Point, which has grown from a single clinic in 1987 to the largest independent medical group in North Carolina. Today the Center provides primary care, urgent care, and twelve different specialties to 1,000 patients daily from all walks of life: Bethany’s 65 healthcare providers and 550 employees speak a multitude of languages. Peters also invested in improving clinical and pharmaceutical research and development through Peters Medical Research and is currently working to help make High Point a hub for the biopharmaceutical industry. Peters Development has invested in bringing economic growth to High Point, with the goal of increasing diversity in the vibrant downtown area. Peters served as the founding director of Bank of North Carolina, later becoming part of Pinnacle Bank, and as Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors for Carolina State Bank. He has served on the boards of the Piedmont Triad Partnership, the High Point Economic Development Corporation, Forward High Point, and the High Point Chamber of Commerce. Established in 2006, the Lenny Peters Foundation is proud to be a helping hand in North Carolina and around the world. The Foundation provides charitable grants or donations to needy individuals and families in the Piedmont Triad, as well as many other charity organizations in the U.S.A. A firm believer in philanthropy, Dr. Peters recognizes his humble origins. Through the Lenny Peters Foundation, he has formed and is currently financing the following centers: the Jayamatha Boys Home, India; Lenny Peters Home for Girls, India; Lenny Peters Home for Palliative Care Center for the Terminally Ill, India; Lenny Peters Prayer Center, India; Lenny Peters Home for Children, Johannesburg, South Africa; Lenny Peters Divine Mercy Home, India; Lenny Peters Home for Child Protection, India; and Lenny Peters Home for Family Welfare, India. One-hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale of this book will go to support orphaned children and cancer patients through the Lenny Peters Foundation. Dr. Peters credits his deep-rooted Christian faith, his mother’s devotion, and his grandfather’s example of giving back to his community as the tenets that have kept him grounded throughout his successful career. Not yet finished, Peters has turned over all businesses to his capable daughter, Elise Peters Carey, and is now focusing his time and energy on his family, community, and charitable interests.
