Born in the Deep South, Bellamy Gayle currently lives under shady oaks in the Cajun country of south Louisiana with her husband, near other family members. She has traveled extensively, including several continents and many islands, and has lived both overseas and on the USA's west coast. She has always worked, but made time for fun playing tennis and maintaining close friendships. Keep Me Safe is Gayle's first novel, but she has a background in journalism, having written many articles for local papers and periodicals. Growing up in a household of college-educated parents and brothers gave Gayle a unique view of the world, which she used in business as the owner of travel agencies, and in politics as an elected official. A career in real estate followed later. Now retired, Gayle draws on those experiences as she completes manuscripts conceived of years earlier. South Louisiana is replete with rich traditions - of delicious food, toe-tapping music, and pleasurable laughter - which are important to the folks who live there, whether native to the area or not. And the bayou country is definitely a melting-pot of people who gravitate to the state. Prior to Gayle's arrival in Lafayette, Louisiana, she and her family lived in Corvallis, Oregon. There was a bit of culture shock on arrival, but in a very good way. Introverts become extroverted in the warm and welcoming embrace of the Cajuns, and that embrace alone provides an endless supply of excellent story material for an eager author. Bellamy Gayle wants to share her experiences. To that end and with her family's support, she has pulled up a chair to a computer. Her Sazerac Series about the DuMonds and their friends, centered in Louisiana, has begun to unfold.
