Publisher's summary

The monarch wants him dead. A dragon’s torching the realm. Is his heroic gig about to be a critical catastrophe?

Gorm Ingerson knows the king is a fink. With the land’s insidious ruler hell-bent on his destruction, the axe-wielding Dwarf berserker is desperate to beat him to the punch. But when he discovers the rotten regent’s claim of a town razed by the world’s richest dragon is false, the gruff adventurer fears there’s more than a personal grudge at stake.

Struggling to convince his old comrades that they need to help him solve the mystery, the dwarven idealist stumbles into a sinister smuggling ring. And with strange creatures, cunning assassins, and vindictive bankers all plotting his demise, Gorm worries this time the price of doing the right thing will be fatally high.

Can he make a saving throw against death with a high-stakes roll at disadvantage?

Dragonfired is the thrilling third book in the Dark Profit Saga satirical fantasy trilogy. If you like witty banter, RPG references, and clever sendups of popular tropes, then you’ll love J. Zachary Pike’s laugh-out-loud conclusion.

More Funny Fantasy

This book isn’t as funny as the previous 2, and honestly the first is the funniest by far. It still has plenty of funny lines, but is less comedic throughout. It’s a good book, a good end to a good series, and I liked it, but I wish the whole series kept the same amount of comedic tone, pacing, and character development as the first installment. It feels like the plot improved at the cost of the series’ original strengths shining less. I think the first book read like Discworld meets Dungeons & Dragons, but this book felt more like just Dungeons & Dragons with occasional jokes. It’s good, just not exactly what I hoped for going into it.

Great conclusion of the story

I was waiting for the final installment so badly and i was not disappointed. I love this story, the economics, the racism, the romance, the creatures, all so wonderfully woven into a great story. I love all the characters and i wonder which one is my favorite. Can't come to a conclusion. I love them all. The narration is fantastic. I can only recommend the trilogy, if you love trolls, and dragons and elves and gnomes and such this is a great story to listen to.

Pratchett-esque, a masterwork.

My favourite fantasy series outside of Sir Terry's Discworld. My greatest regret that I've now finished it and will likely have to wait a few years before I inevitably will want to revisit this jewel. I laughed, I cried and more than once had to pause because I was yelling at myself in excitement.

Damn.

The third act is an emotional roller-coaster. I'm a little sad it appears to only be a trilogy. But it's a nice comfy tucking in of a wrap up. a few unanswered question left open to interpretation so maybe it's not. Ingerson is an absolute force of nature

I'm sad it's done

loved this story, seeing the character arcs from beginning to end and how it all came together was very good. I feel like some stories could spinoff from here and would love to see it

Perfect end to the series

Very rarely can an author keep up the quality all the way to the end of a trilogy but he has done it here. I found myself totally satisfied with the end.

A fantastic conclusion to the series

Having followed the series, I was excited to see this book be released. The weaving of fantasy concepts into corporate life makes for great entertainment when one begins to think on what life would be like in that scenario. This book makes corporate intrigue as entertaining as the adventuring. A definite worthwhile listen!

Best economic fantasy I’ve ever read!

Hilarious while still tackling profound issues, Pike follows in Terry Pratchett’s footsteps in the best possible way. 10/10
