Story
Dragons Riders: The last noble warriors in the realm. Only heroes can embolden the ordinary. For centuries, millennia, the Dragon Riders galvanized generation after generation, adding Riders to their ranks and birthing dragons from their eggs. But there are no more heroes. War with the Andarens is like nothing the Riders, nor the armies of Erador, have ever faced. In the place of heroes, there are only soldiers now. Fodder for the machine of war. This time of twilight is set to be the crowning hour of the dark when the light is losing its grip.

When Anders awakens in a foreign land, he finds himself far from the campaign in Southland and anxious to get back. The sapphire’s intoxicating grip has given him more than just a craving for power. Story
When the cultivators came to Earth, they destroyed our entire civilization in a matter of hours. Armies fell, cities burned, and that was before the moon turned red and filled our world with monsters. Now, over a decade later, what's left of humanity slaves under the heels of our Qi-infused masters. The luckiest of us might even become one of them, they say—if we serve the Dynasty well enough and harness the power of Qi. But I want none of that. I'm sick of serving, and I want nothing to do with their world. Instead, I want them to pay for what they did to mine.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. After a terrible shipwreck near a deserted island, rescue seems impossible for Del, a stowaway street rat; Etenia, a merchant’s daughter; and Lathan, a retired dragon rider—especially when there’s a kraken lurking offshore, hungry for their only possible means of escape: dragon eggs they’re protecting. Yet the kraken answers to the even deadlier Qapira, a forgotten race sleeping deep in the ocean. No setback will stop them now that they’ve awakened. To survive, they must triumph over the people of Pothena, and they will destroy anyone who stands against them.

Story
The Wilderlands are said to contain many dangers. On most maps the area remains blank and only the bravest of travelers will venture beneath its canopy. For monsters roam these woods, which made it the perfect place for a legendary swordmaster to disappear from the world for a time and raise a child. For seventeen years Holviti of Yuutan raised Duren in those woods, training him in the sword, hunting the creatures that called it home, but as is the case with all young men, there comes a day when one must leave his fathers home and make their own mark on the world.

why isn't this book popular?
This is a very well written book. Maybe a bit hard to follow. you do have to remember multiple characters. The author's magic system is different than other fantasy novels. Not a litrpg, which I don't care either way. I am pleasantly surprised to find this one.

well developed, immersive!
This book was great! Well developed world with interesting species/humanoids each with their own motivations and strengths/weaknesses. If you want something new, this is it. AJ has creating something gripping and the narrator has a great voice making it easy to follow. If you are fire fighter/pyro, you will love it. If you like to root for the underdog, you will love it. If you know anything about Montana places, you will love the easter eggs.

I couldn’t read this.
This book may be a good book for some but for me, it was incredibly difficult to find enjoyable.
First and foremost, i generally enjoy books that stick to a singular character’s perspective. Of what I read of this book, it kept jumping from perspective to perspective; which was an immediate negative for me.
That alone was probably enough of a reason to drop this book and move on, but on top of that; I felt like I was dropped into the middle of the story. A ton of characters were introduced, the premise is only explained through character dialogue, and significant events are taking place while i’m kind of scratching my head trying to figure out why I even care.
Again, this book may be good for some people, but as someone who has difficulty remembering names, and doesn’t enjoy long dialogue sessions; where nothing tangible is actually taking place; I found this book very boring.
