Frankie and her friends get the scoop! Frankie wants to be just like her mama and namesake, Franklynn McKnight—an award-winning journalist. But sometimes, sharing her famous mama with the world is hard. Frankie, her teenage sister, Raven, and Papa all miss Mama when she leaves on assignment. Until Frankie has a great idea: with a little assistance from her closest friends—her doll Farrah, Robert the toy robot, and her cat, Nina Simone—she can make her own news show! And when she hears someone crying in the house, Frankie knows it’s the breaking news she needs to cover.

There’s breaking news on TV at Frankie’s house—a protest to demand justice! Frankie’s mama, a journalist, gets a call to cover the story, and Frankie wants to do her own reporting, too. But what is a protest, exactly, and why do people do it? Along with her news crew, including Farrah the doll, Dan the teddy bear, and Nina the cat, Frankie prepares a feature story by doing research and conducting interviews with Papa and big sister Raven.
