Sainte Thérèse a fait dans ce livre un effort systématique - le premier dans l'histoire de la pensée et de la littérature - pour déverser en ces pages la totalité de sa personne, en sorte que les critiques littéraires le considèrent comme le livre le plus personnel de toute la littérature espagnole.
