Wij - Der Fürst der Dämonen. Eine Erzählung von Nikolai Wassiljewitsch Gogol, gelesen von Christiane Dors. Eines der berühmtesten Werke von Nikolai W. Gogol ist die Erzählung "Wij", die in der Kurzgeschichtensammlung "Mirgorod" im Jahr 1835 erstmals veröffentlicht wurde. Als Grundlage für seine Geschichte verwendete er vermutlich eine Volkslegende über den schrecklichen und mächtigen Anführer böser Geister, einer Kreatur aus der slawischen Mythologie, die eines der Hauptmotive der Geschichte bildet. Erzählt wird die Geschichte des Philosophiestudenten Choma Brut aus Kiew, der gemeinsam mit zwei Kommilitonen aus den Fakultäten Theologie und Rhetorik auf einer Reise in einer abgelegenen Unterkunft übernachtet und dabei von der unheimlichen Wirtin bedrängt wird. Diese Wirtin entpuppt sich bald schon als dämonische Hexe, ein Sukkubus, und spielt dem jungen Mann übel mit, indem sie auf ihm kreuz und quer durch die Nacht reitet, bis er sie endlich abschütteln und halb totschlagen kann. Sterbend erscheint sie ihm plötzlich nicht mehr als garstige Alte, sondern als junges, gutaussehendes Mädchen. Von unsagbarem Entsetzen geplagt, kehrt er zurück ins Seminar nach Kiew. Kurz darauf wird er vom Rektor in ein kleines Dorf geschickt, um dem dortigen Dorfvorsteher zu helfen, ein Gebet für seine sterbende Tochter zu sprechen. Als der Student Choma im Dorf angekommen ist, stirbt die Tochter des Dorfvorstehers und wird in der Kirche aufgebahrt. Als Choma die Kirche betritt, um mit den Gebeten zu beginnen, sieht er, dass die tote Tochter dasselbe Mädchen ist, die ihm im Traum als Hexe erschienen war. Choma beginnt während der Totenwache die Gebete zu lesen, doch schon in der ersten Nacht geschehen in der Kirche schreckliche Dinge ... Mit dem Gruselklassiker "Der Sandmann" von E.T.A. Hoffmann setzte sie als Hörbuchinterpretin dieses Genre fort.
