Publisher's summary

Charlie (a werewolf), Dorothy (a vampire), and Neil (a wizard) have a new flatmate. The bad news is, she's a human. The even worse news is, she's an investigative reporter. Susan Hall has just joined The Bugle, and is looking to make a name for herself.

All she needs is a big story....

Good story, terrible narrator

I’ve listened to most of Adele Abbott’s books, and really enjoy the stories and characters. With this book, however, even the story couldn’t save the how boring it sounded because the narrator sounded like she smoked a ton of marijuana before performing. It was super irritating. Please bring back Hannah Platts.

Great new series in a familiar world

Funny, entertaining, and absolutely delightful. Susan, an investigated reporter, has moved into a flat, which is home to three supernaturals. Instead of being an opportunity for inter species growth, it is stressful and dangerous for the supernaturals.

If the supernatural police, Rouge Retrievers, discovers a supernatural has made humans aware of magic, they are abducted and taken back to Candlefield, the town for supernaturals only. Facing a new human flatmate, what is Dorothy, the vampire to do about her blood, can Neil, the wizard, refrain from using magic, or Charlie, the werewolf, curb his tendency to be helpful and inadvertently let something slip? If they cannot keep the secret, back to Candlefield they go.

We are following the lives of these 20 something supernaturals who have left home to explore the opportunities provided in the human world. Susan, the human, has returned home because she needs a job, and she is looking for that one investigative story that will bring her fame. With the pressure from the other supers in the building, our super flat mates must find a way to get rid of Susan before they all get sent back to Candlefield.

If you are familiar with Adele Abbott’s The Witch PI series, this will be very familiar to you. This is the same world with the same rules. Do not make the mistake and compare the characters in the series; Witch PI series and Our New Flatmate Is a Human.

The story line includes, the flat mates trying to keep their true nature from Susan, Susan and the supers have family issues, and Susan looking for that breaking news story. There is a lot to keep you entertained for a cozy mystery.

I am downloading the next one. I want to see the extent the flatmates have to go to hide their true characters from Susan.

Narrator ruins it

I had high hopes for this series, since I loved the Which is Why series. Hannah Platt was perfect as a narrator. After hearing her and then hearing this narrator- it was such a let down. Slow and monotoned. I decided not to continue with the series for this reason only.

Enjoyable Story

If I had not started with the Witch P.I. books first, I might have given this book a higher rating (although 4 stars isn't bad). While I enjoyed this book, I was slightly disappointed because it lacked the wit and humor of the other series. It was a cute, well written storyline. While the reader did a decent job, I really disliked the voice of Charlie. If looking for something light to pass the time, this is a good way to spend it.

Great new series...

I really enjoyed this first installment in the Susan Hall mystery series. As with her other series, Adele Abbott's characters are well developed and enjoyable. I look forward to more in this series.

Not impressed

I guess I expected more.

I really didn't like the narrator--It sounds like a version of a teenager cartoon, put to a book. Very simple story line and didn't keep my attention

Spinoff Success

This is how a spin off series should be done. Adele easily entwines the characters and settings without entangling them. Janine did a great job narrating and made for easy listening and following along through the plots. Looking forward to the next book.
