Publisher's summary

"When Ashes Fall is a tautly written, complex, and emotionally-charged love story that takes the reader on an unforgettable, unexpected, and deeply moving journey.” (USA Today)

It’s been said that you can’t love two men at the same time. You can’t split your heart, soul, and body in half. But I’m here to tell you, you can.

Dylan Cole is like ice, sharp and unpredictable, the thunder inside a tumultuous storm. Smith Reid is warmth, soft and gentle, perfect like a sunny day. Both are mine. But I can have only one.

There are two sides to this tale. I'm here to tell you mine. If you think this story is about a cheater, you couldn’t be more wrong.

UNFORGETTABLE.. SUCH PASSION, RAW EMOTION & LOVE

Oh Marni Marni Marni, you’ve absolutely wrecked me. This hauntingly moving book was my first from you, and now that I’ve found you, it certainly won’t be my last because I loved the precision of your words, your pace, your balance and your flow. As the story slowly unfurled I was intrigued.. then captivated.. then obsessed.. then cautiously hopeful.. then confused.. then moved.. then heartbroken.. and finally you made the sun come out again for the heroine and for me. I initially bought your book because of Aiden, Ava and Teddy.. three trusted and well-loved voices who narrated your touching past and present chapters so wonderfully well and together they made your very emotional and moving story unforgettable.

Worth a credit? There are two love stories here.. but no cheating. There is pain.. but there is pleasure too. There are dark days.. but there will be light at the end of the tunnel. There is unconditional love shining throughout this book.. but there is confusion and deep sadness too. I wanted to hope.. but feared too. It’s not your typical Contemporary Romance.. but it is a beautiful love story. And, IMO, yes it’s absolutely creditworthy.

6 Stars

Six stars. Not enough words to describe. I recommend that you don't read the reviews and just go into this book blind. I did. I didn't even read the blurb, just jumped right in based off the recommendation from a friend. I'm so glad I did.

I didn't cry reading this book but it is definitely worthy of tears. It just takes a lot for a book to make me cry.

When Ashes Fall is told in first person, multiple person POV.

Overall feelings: Wow. That is all.

Audible: The narrators were fantastic. I highly recommend When Ashes Fall as an audiobook.

good

enjoyed this story... not too much revealed in the beginning... but you knew where it was heading! and a good performance from the narrators BUT for goodness sakes if your narrating a story from BOSTON pronounce COPLEY correctly

4.5 story - upgraded to a 5

This story just gutted me. Even though I suspected what was going on (and it's not cheating), it still wasn't quite what I thought and once revealed just totally gutted me. This was a very emotional story.

The romance portion of the story with Smith was touching and sweet. Sometimes it takes a damaged soul to connect to another damaged soul.

The narration was great from all 3 narrators and matched this story well.

Beautiful, emotional, heart-wrenching.

I went into this book blind, but it came highly recommended and I devoured it in just two days. I listened on Audible, which is my preferred way to listen, and I was drawn in right away, even though I did guess right away that Dylan had died from the beginning. I understand the author's intent to give us the story through Alix's eyes and her perspective on how she was living day to day and dealing with the tragedy and trauma she had experienced, but the mystery of what had happened to Dylan made it drag on a bit for me. I enjoyed being a part of Smith and Alix's journey and enjoyed their love story, (as well as hearing Dylan and Alix's love story) and I know this kind of book helps a lot of people and gives those who've suffered some kind of trauma or tragedy something to relate to. It's a bit heavy for me, and not what I usually read, but good to throw in the mix every now and then.

I love all the narrators, and Ava Erickson, Aiden Snow, and Teddy Hamilton all did a wonderful job.

Love 💘 Will Keep Us Together

I enjoyed the book. I kept thinking that Ryan is either a ghost or two timing Alex. I didn't quite trust Smith either. I was disappointed in the ending.

This was a great book that leaves you thinking and second guessing the whole time. The characters pull you in from the beginning, the story develops well, and the narrators are fantastic :)
