Publisher's summary

They went on vacation. Not everyone made it back.

The Palmers went to the lake for a week of fun in the sun. But Alex Palmer had an agenda. He wanted his brother to reconcile with their hypercompetitive father. He wanted his daughter to break up with her shady boyfriend. Most of all, Alex wanted them to be a family one more time before he faced his predicament at home.

Evil incarnate and a brutal double murder shifted Alex’s focus from wants to needs. He needed to keep his family safe. He needed to find her. He needed to know what happened at the lake.

His pastor often said, “God won’t give you more than you can bear.” This had nothing to do with God.

Note to the listener: This is a dark psychological thriller that delves into depraved acts of humanity. For adult listeners only who can handle these subject matters. Adult language and explicit sexual violence.

I liked this book because it wasn't predictable. I would read more of the authors books.

A Good Read 5 Star

An excellent novel. Fast paced with characters that were well defined. What seemed obvious ( but you knew was not) was very well done.
This is an author to watch for a great career

Early on I almost bailed on this book. I'm not into a slasher type story. Glad I hung on. This is a tense thriller which is really about family dynamics. It was a good who-done-it

My only complaint - I listened to the audiobook and all the women have heavy southern accents and the men have none. It was kind of off putting.

I recommend that you give this book a try. I plan to read more from this author

Just the right mix of gore and realism

This is the first book I've read by this author. The characters are very realistic; the jerk you want to nut punch, the old blowhard that thinks he knows better than everyone, the sweet bubbly girl that probably smalls like unicorns, and...the savage sex offender who walks among us. The plot was detailed, and though I guessed most of the ending I didn't get it all correct. I also didn't get a lot of it until most of the way rhrough, so I guess that's a plus.

Loved this story. Full of twists and turns.

These were fairly normal people, and to see how quickly things can go wrong in a family situation still boggles the mind. Very interesting read! Great narrators. .

Fun In The Sun?

Family vacation with a morbid twist. Professionally narrated, an exceptional novel was brought to life by this talented group of people. Phil M. Williams will blow your mind with his story of a typical family. A family with just a few flaws. Listen and be amazed as this thriller plays out.

A murder tale with as many suspects as characters

This is a well-woven tale of murder and misplaced suspicions that devolves into a family squabble and more murder. An idyllic setting at a mountain lake turns into a killing cauldron as the weather turns deadly. None of the aspersions and suspicions pan out as an unexpected killer emerges in the end.
