Publisher's summary

Finally reunited with her family, Caly struggles to adjust to her new life and the decisions she made to get there.

After giving up everything for them, she eagerly awaits the ceremony to receive the second half of her heart and become whole, even though it comes at an unsettling cost. She must marry Prince Aurelius and solidify her place within the Seelie Court.

As she prepares for the event, Caly finds herself haunted by the memory of Malum Mendax, the Unseelie Prince—feeling his eyes are on her when she's alone, shadowy silhouettes in her room, and even touching him in her dreams.

What Caly doesn't know is that it's more than just his memory that haunts her. Malum Mendax has returned to punish his pet and those who took her away from him.

oh my darkness

I am absolutely in love with this series and I have a visceral hatred for unfinished series but I will simp and wait for every book in this.
the characters are given so much depth and diversity in morals and personality.
the narrators brought this to life and I felt connected qmd engaged throughout the story. there is nothing more satisfying than charismatic VA that make you feel the storyline. but this cliffy is just as cruel as book 1 just a warning
FYI the spice be spicing hard in this book 😉

You left another cliffhanger

Cauldron boil me! This story has so many twists and turns it’s going to take me days to unravel everything that happened! Whatever you think you know about Caly, you are wrong. We have to wait how long for the 3rd book?! Jeneane, you are killing me.

Dual Narration (not duet). Better than first book

I wanted to write this review because most people are saying this book is not as good as the first book. I completely disagree. I almost didn’t finish the first book because there were SO many repeated themes and scenes. It could have been condensed. And the first half of the book dragged on. It started to get interesting when she entered the farie realm. But then the love story was hard to believe also. It was like I really hate you one minute and absolutely love and can’t live without you the very next second. No transition into that love so not remotely believable. So the first book was all over the place for me. However the 2nd book was far more believable than the first. It was nice to have more back story to help the story make more sense. And I think it was much easier to follow and held my attention and kept it for most of the book. I like the multiple love interests and making them BOTH great options for her. I look forward to seeing it play out in book 3. I for one am a why choose girlie (hoping she can have them both). I still think this series as a whole is pretty all over the place and chaotic. But it holds your attention enough to want to keep reading. The 2nd is far better in my opinion. As far as the narration, it would always be better in duet (just my opinion). The female narrator didn’t always switch her voice from female to male when needed. She sounded like elli when she was supposed to sound like mendax. Sometimes she sounded like the man when she was narrating the female part and vice versa. But it was good for most of it and she was an enjoyable narrator to listen too. I didn’t mind the male narrator either. Just prefer Duet.

New Moon but chaotic with some spice

I loved the first book and finished it in a day so I was really looking forward to this book. But, overall, it felt like it was primarily chaotic filler. There were some twists and turns but none that were substantial to the main plot line. I was hoping for some resolution but that did not happen. Caly is torn the entire book and then when she seemingly figures out what she wants, she goes right back to being unsure 🙄
Just felt a bit exhausting to me. Not sure I’m going to read the next one.
