Cindy and Mike Carlson are in a passionate marriage, deeply in love and devoted to each other – except for one night three years before when a disgruntled Cindy had unexpectedly met an old acquaintance and succumbed to the temptation to go to a motel with him.

The matter had seemed to be buried in the past, until a simple, fleeting visual encounter with that man brought waves of guilt flowing over her. She decided that she had to confess the tryst to her husband in a conversation that was painful for both of them. And when she insisted that she pay a penalty for that indiscretion, one thing immediately came to her mind.

Mike, a successful educational consultant, was a former school principal at the school where she had taught. And he had frequently, semi-– seriously threatened to look through boxes in the garage to find his old paddle to address Cindy’s smoking habit.

Cindy insists that the paddle be employed generously to help her get past the haunting mistake, and Mike reluctantly agrees. Days later, when she is having lunch with her best friend who was still a teacher at her old school, her friend Elaine confesses that she has been coping with the unresolved business of having falsified her job application and concealing two minor drug arrests in her college days.

When she finds out how Cindy and Mike had addressed her own unfinished business, she visits them to ask for a similar session with the paddle. Later that week, her wish is granted, but after she leaves Cindy and Mike find out just how much the unusual events of recent days has brought a new dimension to their carnal enjoyment of each other.
