Some of the words I wouldn't use in real life conversations. And they do not run through the conjugations so therefore you still need to go elsewhere to improve your vocabulary

Take it for what it is...
I think the people that gave this low ratings thought it was going to be something other than what it is. It is an "audio flash-card system" as stated in the description. Don't expect to learn how to speak Portuguese from this Audiobook. Try Pimsluers if that's what you are looking for. If you already know some Portuguese or if you know Spanish this is a very useful tool for increasing your vocabulary. This title is perfect for making your commute more productive. I will purchase Level 2 when I get that far and would recommend it to anyone looking to build their Portuguese vocabulary. Remember it's "audio flash-cards" and it's not going to teach you grammar.

NOT the first step for learning portuguese...
but great for those who are trying to increase vocabulary. This CD is EXACTLY what I wanted: words and their english translation. This isn't going to be that helpful to you if you don't have a basic grasp of conversational phrases and conjugation. VocabuLearn is just that-its not trying to teach anyone how to speak Portuguese. Its for people who have a little knowledge and want to build on it. I think the CDs were great and I plan on buying the second level.
