Fight, survive, adapt, and rely only on yourself. That is Derek’s creed and what's got him through the System Integration on Earth. Everything changed when the System came. Cute bunnies and beautiful butterflies became savage killing machines. Then the Invaders arrived with a single goal: to obtain ownership of this new habitable planet. War has raged ever since. Story
One day, six towers appear on Earth. Each one stands hundreds of stories tall, and are invulnerable to all attacks. At the base of each tower is a portal, welcoming in all who dare enter it. All sorts of magical monsters can be found inside the towers. Even treasure, magic, and superhuman strength can be acquired. The problem is that the towers aren't a friendly place. Even worse, the towers sometimes release waves of monsters to attack Earth. In the year 2083, there are only a hundred survivors. In one last attempt, they challenge the final floor without regard for their lives.

Story
Every year, the empire administers the rite of passage into adulthood. That rite serves to identify those blessed by Aether to become magi. The new magi are shipped to the academy to learn the arts of magic. The academy is a dangerous place; the tournaments held twice each year can cripple or kill the students, and the clans of the empire will go to great lengths to recruit the students they want. Gregory had one dream: to become a magi like the legends of old. Though he was ridiculed by the residents of the village and his unsupportive father, he never wavered from his dream.

Publisher's summary
They say only fools enter the tower....
All Max wants is to become a climber and search for his long-lost sister.
But citizens aren’t allowed to climb - they aren’t even allowed remotely in the vicinity of the mysterious and magical tower. Plus, even if citizens could enter, it didn’t change the fact that Max’s body is paralyzed from the waist down, confined to a wheelchair. No way would anyone let him enter the tower. Ever.
Yet one night, everything changes, and Max’s world is thrown upside down. He suddenly gains an ultra-rare ability and the chance to train and climb the tower.
But being a climber isn’t as easy as it sounds. Each floor of the tower contains vast worlds and deadly, magical monsters.
While Max may want to ascend to the top of the tower, there are plenty of others who want to as well, many who won’t blink an eye at removing anyone who stands in their way....
Tower Climber is the start of a brand-new LitRPG/progression fantasy series by Jakob Tanner, best-selling author of Arcane Kingdom Online. The story contains RPG mechanics, stats, and ranks as a form of power progression.

Story
My name is Nate Temple, and I’m secretly a wizard. I ride a foul-mouthed unicorn, I drink with Achilles, and I’m pals with the Four Horsemen. I’ve even cow-tipped the Minotaur. I understand the theory of following the rules...I’m just not very good at the application. Because rules were meant to be broken, and St. Louis has a bit of a supernatural infestation these days. Someone should probably be keeping an eye on these things -and probably an eye on me, too. Before I blow up another building...or three.

What can an old-school gamer given magic do in a world filled with age-old, hidden, supernatural creatures? The Hidden Wishes series is an urban fantasy take on the gamlit genre. It is much lighter in terms of "statistics" and its game system.

For recently expelled college dropout Dirk Wilson, picking up and re-selling other player's scraps from cleared dungeons and side quests gone sideways is the only thing keeping him from living on the streets. Tired of ramen noodles, past-due notices, and feeling like his future is over before it ever started, Dirk decides that if he's going to make something of himself, it'll be within the game, taking advantage of the real-life payouts from selling in-game goods on King's League's River Market. My life was ordinary, but never boring. That is, until a colossal tower landed smack-dab in the middle of the city. What should have followed was mass panic and hysteria, but I never got to that part. Why? Simple. I was taken along with 99,999 other people from Earth and dropped onto an unknown world. Strange beings appeared before us—floating, featureless figures that call themselves demi-gods. They ruled this place, this fantastical world called Gaea. The reason why they took us? We'd supposedly been selected to show that Earth was worth saving from an upcoming cataclysmic event.

Love the concept, the execution not so much
How to put this... The story feels like it was written for children. The characters has unrealistic reactions towards each other and the bad guys seems comically evilly stupid. The main character gets himself out of situations by shear dumb luck. At one point he warned someone about the bad guy in the story and... Nothing really comes from it... What the heck? The person he warned even said that he will look into it and nothing happens? I think the author forgot a lot of small plot points.

I liked this one! It was an easy read. The story was appealing and kept me entertained. The characters were interesting and can't help but root for the MCs. The others were the type you'd love to hate!
Steve Campbell delivered a solid performance. As always, his narration made my listening experience really enjoyable.

Definitely for a younger crowd but
the author has something good going on here. It's pretty surface level as far as storytelling goes but again, it was pretty enjoyable. This series could be something special if it gets fleshed out more.

Literally the second Campiest Thing Ever
I just started reading this
But I already know everything I need to
It’s well written
Technically
And the plot is entertaining
And also IT’S LITERALLY THE CAMPIEST THING I’VE EVER READ
Or watched
(Except for Kung Fury
(But literally only that))
I have never laughed harder reading anything
This is genius

The narrator 🙄
Awesome book great story line but the guy reading it completely ruined it for me.

Kinda kiddish diologs
I don’t know really what’s up, but the dialogs here are a bit…kiddish. Nice story, and kind of interesting. But it seams a bit…plane and simple. Reminds me of elementary school conversations. Shallow depth and a bit small on creativity…I guess. But over all it’s a fine book.

Tower climbing with No Climbing!
Minor Spoilers,
Book was ok could have been better if it actually followed the title however it was all about training to go into the tower. I get teen awkwardness but his best friend before moving to the tower district was a girl. One would think if that was the case at least that woild help. However the MC used that accuse over and over and over again it gets kind of old. Then there is his tower climbing mentor who really did no mentoring but taught him to run, do push-ups and sit-ups, not much more. One would think if the MC was in a wheelchair most of his life maybe teaching some hand to hand combat or how to use his ablitiles in combat but zero training. When there was fighting it was pretty slow, for example during an arena fight one combatant got hit, it took what 3 chapters or so for the combatant to get up. We were switched from character to character to replay that hit multiple times from each character and then an entire chapter of the combatant"s struggles with thier inner demons struggling to stand and continue the fight. Wish there was more action, more exploring, just more of everything but what the book offered, monologimg and inter dialog about prior struggles rather it was bullying, name calling or whatnot. The book is titled tower climber but that seemed to take a back seat to the rest.

The story is not bad but not great either. It has some annoying parts where the MC acts out of character. The major problem is the narrator. He does not know how to pronounce words and names. One major example is Sakura is horribly butchered. The other I can remember is instead of say Aviator sunglasses he says Avatar sunglasses. There are more but those where the 2 I could remember off hand.
