Publisher's summary

After a childhood as a street thief, Gabriella Goodhue thought she'd put her past behind her until a fellow resident at her boardinghouse is unjustly accused of theft. In the middle of breaking into a safe that holds the proof to prove her friend's innocence, Gabriella is interrupted by Nicholas Quinn, the man she once considered her best friend - until he abandoned her.

After being taken under the wing of a professor who introduced him into society and named him as heir, Nicholas is living far removed from his childhood life of crime. As a favor to a friend, Nicholas agreed to help clear the name of an innocent woman, never imagining he'd be reunited with the girl he thought lost to him forever.

As Gabriella and Nicholas are thrown together into one intrigue after another, their childhood affection grows into more, but their newfound feelings are tested when truths about their past are revealed and danger follows their every step.

Completely Delightful!

Characters with unusual backgrounds fill this completely delightful story. I loved the reunion between Gabriella and Nicholas. ❤️ The cases and how the ladies of The Bleeker Street Inquiry Agency solved them were fun to read. I was particularly fond of Winston, Precious, and Pretty Girl. Everything Jen Turano writes is great! There is something extra special in how she writes animals into the lives of her characters too. This will be another audiobook that I will listen to repeatedly.
*Update* I have listened to this book at least 4 more times. I still LOVE it!

Funny and clever

Lots of humor, very clever plot. Lots of character interaction. Jen Turano does a witty job of poking fun at the American ton of the late 1900s to turn of the twentieth.

Good book

Enjoyable. A charming book about women and their lives on the east coast back in the 1880s.

Good

It's an interesting, engaging story. There was some predictability, but also an unexpected twist or two. Witemeyer never fails to bring out an entertaining, funny story that keeps you engrossed. it's not a five stars because I reserve that rating for things that are exceptional.

Delightful! Charming! Full of fun!

I love the characters. What a hoot! Jen Turano is wonderful! I haven't read a bad book of hers. This one was so much fun!! I love Gabrielle, but Daphne is such a fun oddity! I am really looking forward to the next book. Don't miss this if you love clean sweet romances with adventure and a lot of humor. I love the empowered women who still have a lot of flaws. I can't say enough of this book. Can't wait til the next one! Religion is there, but is a part of the story and never gets in the way. The story rules marvelously and still uplifts. Don't miss out. Excellent Story of the Value of Children!

I say that because it has been laced in a story of humor, suspense and morals.
Jen is one of my very favorite authors and I must admit I listen to her books when I just need to escape from the reality of our world to stories of individuals wanting to better the lives of those less fortunate that we turn our backs on.
Saving children is one of my focuses with the trafficking of children being so wide spread. To have a story that engages in rescuing children, placing them in an environment of individuals who love them just melts my heart.
It is done in such a way that places a person on edge of their seat due to the suspense, laughing because of the ridiculous situations the character’s find themselves in, and last crying because the heart is overflowing with feelings of love and acceptance.

Fantastic!

Jen has penned another wonderfully funny story in "To Steal A Heart." I thoroughly enjoyed this latest story from Jen, where we meet Gabrielle and Nicolas. What a hoot these two are when they get together! I laughed at countless times throughout the story. Jen does humor REALLY well. The story was fun with great characters that we will see in the rest of the books in this series and let me tell you, I can't wait for those stories. There is a reason Jen's books continuously top my favorites list-she writes stories with humor, fantastic characters and a great plot and she NEVER misses. I truly love her books and this one is one of her very best! Read it-I can all but promise you won't be disappointed!
