The latest groundbreaking tome from Tim Ferriss, the number-one New York Times best-selling author of The 4-Hour Workweek. For the last two years, I've interviewed more than 200 world-class performers for my podcast, The Tim Ferriss Show. The guests range from super celebs (Jamie Foxx, Arnold Schwarzenegger, etc.) and athletes (icons of powerlifting, gymnastics, surfing, etc.) to legendary Special Operations commanders and black-market biochemists. For most of my guests, it’s the first time they’ve agreed to a two-to-three-hour interview.

Rather, explosive kids are lacking some crucial skills in the domains of flexibility/adaptability, frustration tolerance, and problem solving, and they require a different approach.

Story
The ability to use body fat for energy is essential to health - but over decades of practice, renowned family physician Catherine Shanahan, MD, observed that many of her patients could not burn their body fat between meals, trapping them in a downward spiral of hunger, fatigue, and weight gain. In The Fatburn Fix, Dr. Shanahan shows us how industrially produced vegetable oils accumulate in our body fat and disrupt our body’s energy-producing systems, driving food addictions that hijack our moods and habits while making it nearly impossible to control our weight.

Most diet books teach you to set short-term weight loss goals. Whether low-carb or low-fat, the typical plan goes like this: restrict your food choices, exercise until exhaustion, and swallow stacks of supplements. These “solutions” do a better job of lightening your wallet than lightening you. Meanwhile, the healthcare industry fails to prevent chronic disease. Rather than showing people how to remain healthy and prevent illness through proper nutrition, the system offers drugs and surgery to manage symptoms.

Very actionable and health promoting
Excellent comprehensive guide. They weren’t joking when they said you might want to skip around based on your focuses. It’s a bit heavy on supplementation
but I can take what I find useful and leave the rest. I’ve already applied a lot of their tips for gaining muscle and reducing body fat without losing too much muscle. They work! As a whole food nutritionist I can say The science they discuss is solid, up to date. They promote healthy eating habits, learning what eating style matches your genetics, and listening to your body. Love the keto vs veg angle. And of course it’s not really a competition. I personally alternate between the 2 as a fat-adapted person and thrive. Many of the things they are suggesting are not accessible to a person of average income like getting a dexa scan every month or spending thousands a year on supplements but I wouldn’t let that discourage you as there is so much great stuff here that you can apply at any net worth. Real, whole food is not expensive. Some chapters are hard to follow as an audiobook simply because they need visuals. I will probably buy the physical book after I finish this one so I can follow the case studies more easily. But I have loved listening to this on my hikes. The narrators are great at telling stories and explaining complex science. They switch back and forth frequently which helps with a long listen. I am impressed how much they invested in researching this book. It’s informationally dense and actionable. It really is an ultimate guide.

Long, but really good read
This book is a long one and a bit of a snoozer for some parts as I don’t understand everything that is going on and the biology behind a lot of the talk. That being said, it’s a good reference point for me to go back to over the years and look at the parts that are very important to me. It’s hard to listen to this book Without the physical book, which I ordered halfway through so I could understand and follow along. I have gone back to several chapters after reading the book and I’ve gotten a lot of value. Had I just read this book straight through on audiobook I would not have given it five stars. Having the accompanying book with it, and being able to reference things and go back, has helped me to improve my healthand reference things that are very important to me at the time I am focused on them. recommended.
