Publisher's summary

Defense attorney Jackson Taylor left his Chattahoochee River roots for an office with a view of the Atlanta skyline. But when he’s called home to defend a childhood friend accused of murder, the boy Jackson grew up with has become a man he doesn’t recognize. He’s a cheat, a crook.
A killer?

So why is Jackson’s dad begging him to step away from the case? Despite his father’s reputation as a former no-nonsense cop, he’s changed, forgetting things. Is he hiding something?

There are more questions than answers. Threatening letters of vengeance. Money laundering for the mafia…His dad’s fingerprints on the murder weapon.

With his hometown upended, Jackson has to figure out who the real killer is before it’s too late.
Because in a small town, nothing stays hidden.

The Town I Call Home is the electrifying first book in the Loblolly legal thriller series. If you enjoyed John Grisham's “The Firm
or Michael Connelly's “The Lincoln Lawyer”, you'll love this father-son chilling mystery.

Really good

Loved the story! Honestly, if it had not noted that it was an AI read book, I would never have noticed. Voice inflections and pleasant sounding voice, I did not notice the mispronounced worsds that some mentioned, but you get that with human narration, too. I will look for more from this author.

vertual voice leave something to be desired

The virtual voice was okay but there was no inflection and sometimes you couldn't tell who was supposed to be talking. I really enjoyed the book. just not the virtual voice. I don't think I will pick another audiobook that has virtual voice for that reason.

Excellent story

Loved the story line but the narration sucked. No inflection in the voice, no excitement at appropriate times... Monotone and boring voice over.

Good story

Reminds me very much of a good John Grisham. Sorry to see it come to an end

Relationship between father and son and commitment of son to his father

Realistic portrayal of small town relationships where everyone knows everyone else through generations. Voice was easy to listen to and made portrayed the character of the son

good story

Was not a big fan of virtual voice . . . mispronounciations, wrong emphasis on parts of words, not the best inflection of emotion.

AI narration is awful

Could not get through the first two chapters. The story line seemed like it could be good but the monotone mechanical voice is awful. Please don’t do this to your customers.
