Story
In The Worst of You, just-wed architects Timo and Nia flee a murder scene, setting in motion a chain reaction of lies and betrayals that threaten to unravel everything they have built together. Twisted and propulsive, this thriller is told from the alternating perspectives of the couple and those close to them on Williwaw Island, each with their own motive to use the outcome of the murder case to their advantage. When a huge storm sweeps up the coast, trapping everyone on tiny Williwaw Island, it’s a race against time—and the elements — to stop the murderer from striking again.

But only one of them has come home… and it’s all my husband’s fault. I race to Leo’s study and demand answers. As his face turns white, I know: one of his affairs has turned deadly. I always smell the unfamiliar perfume on his shirt. I try to pretend we are a happy family, for the sake of the children… but now, my child is in terrible danger.

Billy Jay Cader came from an abusive past. Self-preservation forced him to run away at the age of 14. His daddy was full of demons and played a sadistic game in a lottery-type punishment with his boy. When Billy Jay ran from his daddy, he hoped to outrun those demons as well. As time passed, he realized he hadn't been able to flee fast enough to escape them. Now those mental monsters were tightly nestled within. He was the new vessel to carry his daddy's wrath.

Story
On the balcony of our gorgeous villa, I clink glasses with my handsome new husband, Owen Turner. As I gaze into his mysterious brown eyes, a shiver runs down my spine. I can barely believe it: true love, palm trees, turquoise sea, white sand. Everything should be perfect. Except last night, Owen and I had our first argument. My husband drank too much, and he said something that made me wonder if there's a darker side to the man I married.

Story
It was four o'clock in the morning. A young woman pushed through the hospital doors. Staff would later say they thought the woman was a new mother, returning to her child - and in a way, she was. She walked into the nursery, where a baby girl lay sleeping. The infant didn't wake when the woman placed her gently in the shopping bag she had brought with her. There is CCTV footage of what happened next, and most Australians would have seen it, either on the internet or the news.

It seemed a little sophomoric, but ok
The story would have been far more compelling with an actual voice-talent. While AI is a viable technology, this version was awful. Inflection was totally wrong. It sounded like a 5th grader asked to read aloud in class from a completely unfamiliar text,

Terrible narrator
This story was very interesting and is the only reason why I kept listening. I say that because the AI narrator really was distracting for me. The inflections were much too upbeat for a book of this type.
I'm guessing they went this way to save money, like everyone else, but it's going to color my choices in the future unfortunately But again, the story was very good.
