Publisher's summary

A marshmallow selkie with more heart than sense and a stubborn human with a guarded heart fall in love in this first story from the Waves of Fate universe.

"Oops! You dropped your coat!" With these words, waiter Daniel Collins turns selkie Gregory Samson’s life upside down. Because that coat is not some fancy heirloom fur. No, it is Gregory’s selkie pelt, which magically connects him with his seal animal inside. When Gregory hears Daniel’s voice, he knows the human is his mate. Too bad Daniel has more than a few misgivings about trusting his heart to a selkie, because the magical seal shifters have one of the worst player reputations of all shifter kind—and Daniel fears a broken heart.

How will Gregory convince Daniel to give him a chance? It wouldn’t be so hard if Gregory’s mother and everyone else would just stop meddling! Brought together by the magic of Gregory’s coat, can the pair weather insecurities, an interfering mother, meddling friends, and a disgruntled inner animal?

The Selkie’s Coat is a slow-burn MM romance with a guaranteed HEA. It is this first installment of the Waves of Fate omegaverse universe and can be listened to as a stand-alone story.

The Lore of the Selkie!

From chapter one the formal Selkie atmosphere was set with Michael Ferraiuolo's accent for Gregory. He really pulls you into this magical new world and you get an instant feel for who Gregory is and what he envisions his life to be. On the other side we have human Daniel who from their sweet first encounter feels the pull in a lesser way than Gregory's instant knowledge he has found his mate. This made for a more complex but much more realistic courtship. Daniel is wary of the Selkie lore and anxious about figuring out where he really fits in the world as a whole along with his new feelings for Gregory and obviously destined place with him. Being the first story in this series we get to meet a ton of other characters and I will just say I adore the sweetness that is Henri so pulling for his romance! On audible this one really had an original mystical kind of feel.

Selfie fated mates

I love this story. Gregory and Daniel don’t have a way time of their first few meetings and their relationship gets off on the wrong foot, but these two are fated mates. I kinda wanted to smack Daniel around a little for fighting it so hard but they get their HEA. It is a sweet big with a little bit of angst but it is worth a listen. And Michael Ferraiuolo always does a fantastic job! I want Henri’s story now! 🥰

Loved!

I read this book a few years ago, so when the audiobook was announced and that Michael Ferraiuolo was the narrator, I was super excited to listen. I enjoyed this book very much. I liked that the shifters were not something that was hidden in this world. The Alpha/omega dynamic was also different from the norm. Daniel found out he was an omega at 16 and he struggles with that throughout the story. Gregory is a selkie shifter who instantly knows Daniel is his fated mate. Gregory struggles to keep his selkie side under control while he courts Daniel, which leads to some interesting moments between them. Overall I liked the pace of the romance and that they both had to deal with their inner struggles before truly accepting their fate. I'm looking forward to Henri and Winston's story. Micheal Ferraiuolo did a fantastic job with the narration. I love his character voices and how he makes the story come alive.
